thanks guys, faith it is a good feeling yes
but the problem is i haven't had the chance to test it much as the gearbox is shafted so the speedo wont work as its gone in the box
so never know how quick i am going
and can't thrash it till the setup is done, but the power is strong at 12psi was keeping up with a audi tt 225 tuesday so thats a good sign its pulling well... so hopefully i can test it when its setup

How hard was it to get the dash in as im considering doing the conversion on my Si and i heard that you have to cut a new hole in the bulkhead for the MK4/5 heater box?

it is a hard conversion imo its worth keeping the mk3 heater and making air ducts to fit the mk5 dash as the wiring for the mk5 is quite different and can be complex
... dash fits well tho as described in projects guide, but i had 2 special nuts welded on the sides so the dash fits factory perfect and solid as a rock

ok small yet large update
new box is on!!!
works lovely feels great and drives much nicer
downside after fitting there seems to be 2 small problems
rubbing/slight grinding which we can't explain checked shafts, nuts bolts, rod ends, ball joints etc etc etc and all are fine
SO we have had to guess that the pass wheel bearing has gone s.h.i.t.e altho they were new!!! also the drivers side gearbox shaft seal is leaking slightly
must have happened by accident by gatman or something??
all said and done tho, FINGERS SUPREMELY CROSSED the car will be fit as a fiddle on tues for me to bring home.....
then rebook the rollers for a week tues (cutting it close to FF) then back to jamie for a few days for the touch up
and a valet
this is all down to if things go right
which in my book ain't too often!!!
thats me for now

Are you sure the grinding isn't the drive shaft touching the anti-roll bar? When does it happen? Gay news about the seal leaking already
A rolling road will not be happy with you taking that there and making a mess of their equipment, not one bit!

james: yes it isn't good hence me getting the leak sorted tomorrow.... also the grinding happens all the time any driving the faster you go the louder it gets nothing is touching that we can see its real odd we were both v v v confused so we thought the only thing it could be would be the bearing
we even had the car on a ramp and jacked the front and drove it through the gears it did it but we couldn't see where it was doing it
m4frd: have replied to your thread dunno if it helps
i was just unfortunate the seal was damaged not too much bother tho hopefully be all sorted tomorrow
only the grinding that worries me a touch

ok went today got the train to go get the car
.....
grinding was the bearing it was mashed!!!!!!
box is now fine too
so i went about finishing little niggly things on the car also cleaned the car about 1/2, just the alloy to finish and the dash and also if i have time a couple of other lil things i am thinking of
also car seemed a touch slow my boost guage was readin about 12psi
thne started being eratic, so i redid the pipe this time to find the car was only running 6 psi
, so soon altered that! back at 11psi peak now
feels much stronger gearbox is v good too car is a bit of a handful too takes some getting used too with the torque
...
ok so enough from me will be driving / checking the car for next week to make sure she's fine then to the rollers for the boost upped and the official BHP/LBFT
PICS i hear you say????
just catch the new gearbox in this pic
cheers Ad
