Re: my new black rs turbo project..... stripping and shiney bits
ok chaps got a bit done today, took the engine and box out, split them and took the head off, i suspected something was up in cylinder 3 because looking in the exhaust port it was very black and the other 3 cylinders were the right colour as expected, so stripped the head and no3 piston was indeed melted on one side, so took it out, the bore itself is ok, just a bit of aluminium deposit near the top but that can be sorted, so if anybody has a standard piston and rings ill take emm!!
oh the joys

Re: my new black rs turbo project..... engines out, but problem
thats some quick progress mate, out and stripped to a piston in a day! not bad at all
bloddy hell thats some odd detonation going on there, any thoughts how it happened?
least it should be a straight forward fix

lookign good mate.
while your waiting for a piston, you could spend the time ripping that ABS off.... its marmite, some love it, some hate it, but its not that good and easy to get rid off now while everythings out

Re: my new black rs turbo project..... cleaning started
update,,,, been busy cleaning again chaps, i degreased the block as it was shockingly dirty so out came the wd40 and a toothbrush, came up well, just needs paint now, i also got the main aluminium pieces degreases and glass peened up in work so they look great now, and i also got a new vice and the misses insisted on drilling and fitting it to the bench
and i opened up the heater to clean it and i nearly got lost in the forest that fell out of it

all for now

all looking good mate.
nice to see ya missis chipping in, if i asked my missis to fit a vice i would simple get 'the look'
dont forget to fit the push fit connector in that inlet for the vac pipe to servo

you not getting rid of the abs?
if you are i got a non abs servo (or just the res)
but if im not mistaken the vacuum hose that fits the inlet from servo uses the same type of push lock collars
