Can't beat a good spit roast!
You also can't beat access to a large garage! The rig looks great, my friend is a fabricator, and he was looking at this with interest.
(That until he's made my electric pop-out windows)

Funny you should mention that, I was looking at the coupe 'tother day and wondered if the parts could be moved across! I decided it's just something I wouldn't use due to having A/C though, so just extra weight for me but if you haven't got A/C it's pretty handy
It's a shame the electric sunroof is now discontinuted too.

I asked him if he'll knock up a flush motor for my sunroof as well. Most people will think it pointless, but it will allow me a total enclosure system with my alarm.
Did Ford supply a electric sunroof (sliding type) for the Mk3? I wonder if a Mk4 or 5 item could be made to fit?
Heh, this just reminded me of the Fiesta Calypso! Ho ho ho!

Yes there is a Mk3 specific one, tilt and slide, it was £450 for the lot. The Mk5 one is still listed, I don't know if that's available or not. I will check

I spent a little time today swivelling the shell into place so I can begin work on the underside. This was a 2 man job as clearance was minimal between the garage door opener and the top edge of the shell, my Dad kindly spent half an hour with me holding the shell while I adjusted the height of the stands and locked them in place with bolts.
I'm out of garage space at the moment! 2 interiors, 2 sets of wheels, 2 sets of suspension, an RS2K 4x4 rear end and numerous other things are making it difficult to work on the car, hopefully by the end of next week all of the parts that I don't need will be sold, giving me back some much needed space!

GEOFF - That's the front ARB, I've not removed it or the lower arm carriers yet
DAN - Yes etch priming everyting, then a barrier coat, few coats of standard primer, stone chip in strategic places then more primer and finish with the body colour.
I'm having anything removable galvanized then powder coated.

ianFRST :dam, if only i could have done that with mine![]()
your lucky to have a double, try doing that in a single garage, then you'll see what tight for space is![]()
Yeah pretty lucky! That's all my crap in there, I filled the front 2 we have so parents had that one built, and now I've filled it again

Let me guess, you're thinking KX125 motors front and back!

If you want it mate, you can take it? TBH I don't use it anymore, tend to sit in the chest freezer with the ipod for a few hours.

If you don't mind me asking, what are the calipers your using for the rear off? Can't you get Brembos of the front of Cupra R's or soemthing?

Muz - 4 pots on the rear would be overkill for me, because predominantly this will be used as a road car. The calipers are 2 pots from the rear of an Evo 8.
Cleaned the exhaust tunnel in order to remove all of the Waxoyl, this took a considerable amount of time with rags and a toothbrush and no doubt the wax in the seams will come back and haunt me when it's time to start priming & painting.
At the rear of the car I started to prepare the boot floor area for the fabrication work required to mount the diff, starting today by removing the boot floor reinforcing piece.
The metal has arrived for the rear diff mount, it is 100x50mm*2mm ERW box section. I also have some ERW tube to reinforce the areas where the mounting bolts will pass through the box section.
I carried on with preparing the rear of the car today, removing the 2 spare wheel carrier mounting brackets and removing the rest of the underseal ready for welding.
If I'm in a fit enough state over the weekend I shall get on with mounting the diff

ianFRST :how did you get them spare wheel brackets off![]()
i had a quick look, but decided against wrecking my car in order to remove them
There wasn't enough room to get the drill/spot weld bit in there. I chopped off the top with the angle grinder then ground off what was left. It took around an hour

Those two steps (very rear of boot floor and front, where the wheel tray lugs were) will no doubt be very handy when the diff mounting commences! Hope all goes well tomorrow
