mk3 1.6 si 16v timing belt job?
from the looks of it i got a coolant leak which seems to be from none of the hoses and its dripping down over the alternator. im guessing its the water pump, in which case a whole timing belt job needs to be done.
how hard is it to change the belt kit and to make sure it doesnt go out of timing? iv read that a tool is available to lock the camshafts but not sure if it locks the crankshaft too.
haynes manual says to lock the camshafts then take the crank pulley off. some forum posts say to loosen the crank pulley bolt first before even starting the job.???
any advice on this?
thanks
