Maccy Ds and Diet Coke.... Healthy Eating?
I'm having a "debate" about a balanced diet.
Someone at work ACTUALLY believes eating low cholestrol cereal and drinking diet coke cancels out having a big McDonalds meal every day.
Oh Dear!

Your collegue is right mate, its common knowledge
Is your work collegue on that diet but can't understand why they are gaining rather than losing weight by any chance?

I dunoo what she thinks to be honest, I cant remember what its called, but there was a psychology (cognitive development) experiment they did on young kids.
They had a tall slim glass, and a short wider based glass and asked children which one had more water, they ALL said the taller glass, because to them, it looked bigger. When you're older though and you learn about volumes etc you know it could be either or neither.
She reminds me of the kids who havent developed yet, only someone with a very low IQ would believe that diet coke cancels out a daily mcdonalds meal.
Its on the same level as you cant get a girl pregnant if you have s*x standing up, oh no lighting lets stand under that tree, and look mummy Ive made a diving board for the shallow water.

Some people dont just understand what crap goes into most fast foods, thinking that by eating something healthy it will be balanced out. Also as regards to coke, can you honestly look at it in a glass and think that its ok for you? If you showed someone who has never drank/seen coke before do you rekon they would drink it, seeing it black in colour with a stale smell and fizzing like no tomorrow. I avoid fizzy drinks at all costs, Tea and milk are all that I have (Beer when needed
), Im not so keen on water but I do drink it in the summer.

I love the fact that people say Coke is bad for you then admit to drinking Alcohol
Obviously I don't live off the stuff, but I don't drink alcohol at all, so when I'm at the pub its usually a Coke.

Her logic is flawed, but there is a slight amount of truth to it.
It wont cancel anything out, but if she was eating s**t for breakfast, then the Mc'd would be worse for her than normal, and as for coke, i avoid both if i can, i only drink coke when i go hypoglaiecemic, and diet when there is nothing else available.
i tend to drink diluting juice or water

For people like myself I would consider Coke to be a regular drink if I drank it, and Alcohol for special occassions.
Alcohol has been around longer than coke ever has been, infact I found a usefull article on Alcohol here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcoholic_beverage, showing that it serves many uses for people rather than just for getting intoxicated. In my opinion coke is a big load of chemical crap thats only usefull for cleaning minor corrosion off metal.

lol
Mikee - look here: http://www.snopes.com/cokelore/
Orange Juice is technically worse for you than Coke, due to the amount of acids involved. Many if not all of the "dissolving a tooth" or "dissolving meat" tales are rubbish.

Little snip from Wikipedia regarding Coke:
'In response to consumer insistence on a more natural product, the company is in the process of phasing out E211, or sodium benzoate, the controversial additive linked to DNA damage and hyperactivity in children, of Diet Coke. The company has stated that it plans to remove the controversial additive from its other products — including Sprite, and Oasis - as soon as a satisfactory alternative is discovered.'
As I said all along, its only usefull for getting crap of metal

I always laugh at people in McDs who ask for a diet coke, it tastes crap compared to fat coke, and wont stop you getting fatter
Although to be fair, the amount of crap I eat and drink, I should be the size of a house by now!

Yeah, that happened to me. Now I have quite a gut going on. And a beard too. But that's not particularly relevant, I guess.

Vix I totally agree with you about eating rubbish. I am never without choclate in my system
well I've started a healthy eat type thing this weekend while at Shaun's. I've not had any chocolate since friday and I feel like I'm weaning myself off hard drugs....I feel bloody awful and jittery. Infact I've started craving sweet things recently....I can't control it
Anyway.....bring on the next 2 days at work at British Gas within the Customer Relations department. I'm pretty sure that by 10am I'll be heading for a whispa. The exercise thing starts this week as well. Max and I are going for long walks, him in his trike that waas his birthday present on thurs and me pushing him
I wanted to be bikini fit for our holiday but I doubt it'll happen in the next 10 days

Maccy Ds..... why is there no vomiting emoticon on here?! Can't eat anything like that it's just totally disgusting!
I'll eat anything (like pizzas and burgers etc) but 99% of the time it's proper home made stuff so I know it doesn't have any crap in it. The 1% of the time if when my chef (my other half) can't be arsed!!
And I pretty much exclusively drink tea! Which would probably be quite good for me if I didn't have sugar in it

I used to drink a lot of coke, but now I don't drink it at all unless it's after a night on the lash. It's part of the hangover recovery kit

Just don't like it at all, the chips are those 'preformed mash potato made into the shape of a chip' things, the buns taste like cotton wool and the burgers are really thin and crappy (and fried)! The coke isn't even real it's that syrup and water stuff!
I wouldn't eat any KFC for example cause it's frankenchicken, I eat the RSPCA monitored stuff at home.
Plus I just hate the whole idea of s**t american fast food places where everyone goes in wanting instant s**t to shovel into their mouths or worse into their kiddies, or WORSE don't even get out of their car to get it! Vile!
