Anyone else listen to this guy from america? i've just discovered him.
He's a great guitar player and has apparently given lessons to the likes of Kirk Hammet from Metallica, and Kirk's one of the best.
I thought I would upload a track for u to listen too if u aint ever heard any of his stuff. I'm just trying to get hold of all the cd's

A random track I pulled from his Live album. So live, not studio

Joe Satriani..
I have two of joe sat's albums, surfing with the alien and the extremist.. satch boogie has gotta be my favourite. guy at work showed me a video, had to buy a couple of albums, f'in amazing! if you like him you'd probably like the kenny wayne shepherd band, joe satriani thought kenny was so good he took him on tour.. kenny was like 18 at the time.. quality stuff. the album Trouble Is... is pretty cool too!

He's an awesome guitarist, I have most if not all his albums and some strange unreleased recordings too. Heard about him a few years ago. I occasionally try playing some of his things but don't get very far as my fingers get too tired too quickly

lol might have something to do with the fact he plays guitar for 8 hours everyday! he has a routine involving different scales and chords each day lol. i played a jem the other a day. the other guitarist in ym band has one. a jem 4 with the pink pickups, green inlays and floral body patteren. i didnt actually like it, but it was still nice.

I like Joe. He's playing is very melodic, his guitar "sings". I'm trying to learn "Surfing with the alien" recently, but it's damn hard
Vai and Hammett aren't his only students (the famous ones)... also Charlie Hunter - he plays jazz on an 8 string guitar, you gotta check him out.
Also if you like Joe, you can check John Petrucci's last LP "Suspended animation", he has similar phrasing, but IMHO has better technique
(if you know Dream Theater you know what i mean)
