Stoned :scarlet_pimp_mobile :Stoned :FRST/RS1800 = Grp 15
XR2i 1.6/1.8 = Grp 14
2.0L Si (Faster than RS1800) = Group 9
Should puts things into perspective nicely
Is this true? Not saying you're lying but is this a fact that a registered 2.0 Si is only Group 9?![]()
Yeah totally true as insurance companies like HIC take the insurance group for the car the engine came from. In this case a 2L Mondeo which is grp 9.
Lots of people have insured their 2L Fiestas this way.
So if you put the 2.0l from a mondy into an RS1800 the insurance will go down 6 groups???
Or do they take into account the cars shell.

I dont reckon they would take it down, the car will be in the insurance group thats the heighest, so the RS1800 group 15. The reason to y its only group 9 in a si is the fact that a standard si is group 8 so because the mondeo group is higher they take that one.

h196jne :I was under the impression that the majority of the RS range was built abroad, as every one of the 15 I've had seemed to have been and so have my mates????
Theirs a new topic who's RS was built in this country![]()

Late FRST, Some J and most of the K reg (depends if they were kept in a compound for ages and sold later on) were British(Dagenham) built.
You can tell as it'll be full of rust and on the colour vin plate under the bonnet it says Red for example for the colour and Rojo if its a Spanish one. Same with the other colours.
As to someone saying moonstone blue.. there arent any. But in a Ford brochure i have for the rs1800 it does say Auralis blue for the rs1800 but i've never seen one (dont think they made any) i recon they printed the brochure then decided not to make any.

Its the MK3.5 RS1800's that are rare, on a L to N Reg, with fuel flap, black dash, zetec engine, power steering and all the other MK3.5 differences
