Re: Interview Techniques...??
You need to play it by ear really - ask them about something they mention during the interview, it shows interest and also confirms you were listening.
If it's customer service be prepared to explain how you would deal with a problem customer, they'll probably ask that.
At the end of the interview ask "is there anything that you've seen here today that you think may affect my suitability for the role?"
This way if they have any doubts you've given them an opportunity to express them, and in turn an opportunity for you to set them straight, or dispel any concerns. It quite often catches them out, in a good way though - it shows initiative.
They'll expect you to be nervous and a good interviewer should try and put you at ease. There's also no harm in asking them how it went.
It gets easier the more you do. If you need to boost your interviewing abilities it's sometimes worth applying for jobs you don't want, just to get in some practice. If you don't want the job then the pressures off and you can concentrate on what you're doing more.
I had 15 jobs in 7 years, and must have done over 30 interviews before I found one I liked (been there 5 years now) and for the past couple of years I've been on the other side of the table, recruiting people, so I've seen it from both angles.

Yes!! ask them questions
Got taught this at college, show you're interested, don't just sit there answering their questions... make sure you find out what's in it for you, how much holiday you can get, how much you're going to get paid, what they do about you being ill all that sorta stuff

Re: Interview Techniques...??
You can ask things like if they have a dress code, if it's customer services then you'll most likely have to dress tidy anyway. If you have any piercings, jewellery, make-up or nail varnish (I know you probably don't wear the last two, but you might.
) ask them what their rulings are on wearing those.
Always dress smart too. >_< I've seen too many people go into an interview in t-shirt and jeans and expect to get a job.

Re: Interview Techniques...??
A lot has already been covered so I'll try not to go over the same things again.
Make sure you know what's on your CV and you can answer questions about it, too many people big themselves up then look blank when asked about something they've said they've done.
Don't ask about holiday, pay, perks, etc, it makes people think that is all you're interested in. You should have an idea of the pay from the advert anyway, if you don't then phone the HR department. If you really feel the need to ask in the interview then leave it right till the end.
Wear a suit or at least a shirt tie and smart trousers.
Don't be suprised of they ask you about stuff that has nothing to do with the job. I spent a fair bit of the interview for my job talking about Fiesta's, Mini's and Silverstone.
At the end of the day it's difficult to predict exactly what's going to happen. You need to turn up prepared to go with the flow and answer any questions they throw at you honestly, try to relax as much as you can and just be yourself. They'll be looking for more than just that you know your stuff, they'll also be looking at things like how confident you are and how well you're likely to fit in with the existing people.
Funny thing about that. I applied for my job even though it was advertised as less than I was looking for. Turned out the advert was wrong and it was actually exactly what I was looking for.
Bit of advice for everyone now... for the love of god don't put what football team you support on your CV unless it's actually relevant to the job!! If your potential employer doesn't like that team you're likely to be binned immediately, especially if there's been a lot of applications and they're trying to narrow it down.

Re: Interview Techniques...??
a couple of things that haven't been covered and were key to me getting my last job:
don't be afraid to say you don't know the answer to a question, just say you don't know and explain how you would find out how to do it - don't blag.
if you have to prepare a presentation, contact the company in advance and ask for their corporate slides - this will look very good.
best of luck mate, and try to relax as much as you can

TIL13R : Role Play
Crap like that in interviews always cracks me up. I mean doing a presentation is one thing, but playing games
I actually had a go at the sales director in my 2nd interview for my current job!
