Ideas for a Fiesta mk5 based project??
Hi All - greetings.
Been browsing through this website now for a while and got some great ideas and inspiration for my next project
I've bought a mk5 Fiesta 1.4 zetec MoT failure for £50, with the intention of doing a bit of autotest, autograss etc - see pics

Both the wife and I love competing in these events - great fun.
The mk5 did really well on the day, only complaint was it being ever so slightly underpowered.
We've had polos and Ka's before for this sort of thing - mainly with the idea being that the car is "disposable" e.g. you throw it away after the event. However, I've now decided I want to keep this one, always had a soft spot for fiestas having had a few over the years, and with a bit of inspiration it could be something quite tasty.
Anyone got any ideas or suggestions? I reckon I'm something of a dab hand with the spanners, my last project was a GKD kit car build, this has a 2.8 straight six BMW engine in and is a whole heap of fun

Less fun in the winter though, and a bit "too nice" to handbrake turn around cones in a muddy field.
So any ideas? I was thinking 2.0 Zetec turbo... Ford Ranger or Galaxy 2.3 (will it drop straight in?) or is there something more radical like a RWD or 4x4 option?
Want to keep a bit of a lid on the costs, so not "open chequebook" but £500 to £1,000 in little chunks should just be about achievable.
Oh and I need to strip it back to the bare shell and get the welder out first - got a bit of tin worm, hence the £50 price tag
Cheers,

There's a ton of room under the back for a rear diff as long as you relocate the spare wheel. A Porsche transaxel box will fit too. You will need to relocate the fuel tank to the boot though.
Too old and too bald.
