i need your opinions on my fiesta rs turbo- work being done

Postby rob pace on Tue Feb 18, 2014 8:40 pm

right guys i just want your opinions with my fiesta rs turbo as ive finally found a guy to do all the work on my fiesta rs turbo! good rep on the series 1 forum and rs owners club! initially it was having a 3/4 spray as there are small chips and light scratches etc but im thinking just get it all done (it is 24 years old now  )

other work being done is -

all the horrid abs completely removed, NON abs brake lines sprayed in olive green, new gold unions, driveshafts refurbished in satin black (believe satin was the factory colour?), new brake servo along with master cylinder installed - basically as it came from factory without abs! also new genuine ford wheel bearings and cv joints to put on while its all off!

price quoted for all work and full respray with bodykit off is £3100 - does this sound reasonable? :D

Good idea getting the whole car done...Mercury never matches old mercury.

Ive seen some driveshafts in gold zinc colour and others in satin aswell so theres two options.

No real reason for using gen ford wheel bearings as pattern are just as good and alot cheaper.

Zinc unions might be a bit of a mare as you will have to cut and re flare the original break lines which can considerably shorten them, and the flaring tool will not fit on some of the short bends on the lines themselves ( as they turn onto the master cylinder etc). You can get the nuts zincd but it can be graft as the zinc plater will have to hold the whole line whilst he zincs just the nuts.

Pricewise if its cash then thats a fair price...Mine was around the £2900 mark cash. :D

thanks edd, he has a very good reputation, picking me up etc and showing me stages of the work and removing the kit with me! ive had the rear kit off and rear arches are spot on! but dont know whats hiding behind the front arches  hopefully its as good as the rear, rear offside arch only had a tiny bit of rust smaller than a 5p piece! :)

thank god the abs is going also!!! :D

had the front bearings for ages and got them for a bargain price at the time! :)

They are not the correct ones for the Fiesta RS Turbo - these are specific to the Sapphire Cosworth and a different size to the ones used on the Fiesta.
