That's what I thought, hardly ever see FRST's or RS1800's around. See loads of XR2i's though!

i've remember reading a Fast Ford dated around 1997 and I think it says that 593 were made in the UK. The article mentioned how rare they were and I always believed that, given I hardly ever see any. I'm very surprised that thousands more were imported to the UK but who am i to doubt Ade?

We are talking about the ones that came out of the Ford production line with the RS1800 badge.

As for the "is it a Turbo, and is it a XR2" i get that all the time. more is it a turbo after i put the 17's on it.

They're both wrong.

Many more were made and imported into the UK. Abroad they were known as 130ps XR2is, in the UK they were badged as RS1800s.

If they made less than 500 do you really think there would be 36 for sale on the Auto Trader site?

Make sure you're searching nationally, not just within 40 miles or what the default is.

You need to search twice to get them all to appear, once for "rs 1800" and again for "rs1800" (no space).

if i can remember quite rightly i asked this question a few months ago and remember saying that i have a mate that was in the office at the local henry fords and only 493 were made. and if they was imported to this surely it would be for sale on the autotrader website as saying FORD FIESTA 130PS XR2I 16V now wouldnt it and not RS1800

practically everyone that owns an XR2i 1.8 16V says its an RS1800 these days. Non-car enthusiasts don't know any different, even if they bought one which was badged as an RS1800 but the log-book said 1.8 Zetec 16V.

You only need to worry about rebadged 2is if it's a mk3 though, if it's a 3.5 with an 1800 Zetec it's an RS 1800.
