Help installing standard Zetec spoiler
Hi there,
Just a bit of help to ease my mind before I get to work with the Black & Decker...
I have bought a second-hand spoiler taken off a scrapped mk4, which I am I about to sand and respray to match my car before.
Just want to check something about drilling the holes to mount it.
I took the pic below this afternoon, having noticed two black plastic caps inside my boot door.

Would I be right in guessing that if I removed the black caps and drilled a hole bang in the middle of the area they're covering, I would have the holes in the exact position required for a perfect mounting of the spoiler?
I haven't removed the caps at all yet myself so haven't had a chance to see what it looks like underneath.
Many thanks

Re: Help installing standard Zetec spoiler
what car have you got first? mk3 or mk4/5? as if you have got a mk3 the mk4/5 wont fit tide without work.
there are slight dimples where you have to dril to fit a spoiler under those caps, start with a small drill bit to drill a pilot hole in the exact place then open it up to the correct size with the correct sized bit.
make sure you clean the edges of the holes so they are free of swarf or sharp edges and apply a bit of paint to the metal where there is none to protect from any rust setting in

I've got a mk4, and the spoiler is off another mk4.
I will have a look under the caps tomorrow and look for these dimples.
Many thanks.

if there are no dimples then you will have to make a card template
there is a guide on fitting a mk3 spoiler here that will give you some instructions,

I'm in the process of doing something similar with a cardboard template. Thanks for the link.
