Re: fuel pressure regulator
what you wanna do? up the fuel pressure?
the standard ford ones are adjustable, on the top theres a small alloy disc pressed it, get that out and under it is a grub screw, turn it in or out to adjust the fuel pressure as needed.
the best way to get the alloy disc out is drill it with a small drill (dont plunge the drill right through it so it hits the grub screw, take it easy) once hole in, screw in a self tapper and pop it out with some plyers.
i would advise against messing with fuel pressure unlesss its hooked up to a exhaust gas tester as you can set it rich or lean as easy as pie

Re: fuel pressure regulator
um well iv got a kms exhaust gas tester wired into the car and its showing the fueling being rich on tick over but take it up the road and it leans out and the car wont rev up when it comes onto boost so i think the pressure isnt rising as it should?

Re: fuel pressure regulator
unless its a wideband sensing one, forget it, the narrow band ones are about as much use as a brick to a drowning man.
when the car is cold it will show rich anyway, was the ecu is putting in moire fuel as it adjusts it so its "on choke"
what car is it?
could be the fuel pump on its way out as you should never have to adjust the fuel pressure unless of corse your uprating things and adding chips etc, which, if that is what you have done, say fitted biege injeftors 195 chip etc if its a FRST, the the standard fuel pressure is not enough and the car will lean out on load as the pump will not pump enough fuel for what the injectors use

Re: fuel pressure regulator
well the lambda computer is wideband as far as im aware and is also used to plug into kms aftermarkect ecu and self maps its self so should be fine
its a mk2 fiesta with a fiesta rs turbo engine in it, has an uprated pump as i fitted a 195 chip and beige injectors as well as a t3, 285t2 cam polish ported head, took the 195 chip of and beige injectors and replaced them with standard ones as it was heavily overfueling as i thought the chip was faulty and wanted to see if it ran ok on them but car runs worse
what sensor is used to adjust fueling as the engine warms up?

Re: fuel pressure regulator
should be ok then with the sensor, but there still not as good as what a tuner uses so i reckon you shouldget it set up.
im guessing that it was rolling road tuned and all set up at some point with the old FPR, and if its fueling all over then maybe the pump is starting to play up, or more than likly a sensor.
the only 2 on the FRST engine is the ACT sensor on the inlet and the water temp sensor in the bottom of the inlet, this one tells the ecu how hot or cold the engine is and the ecu will adjust fueling to suit, and these do play up.
might be worth getting a new one to test it out, if it dont sort it, you can rule it out and there only about 12quid so not a great outlay even if it doesnt work.
but if its been set up with the chip and beiges, then put them back in mate

Re: fuel pressure regulator
no i built the engine and the fuel rail i had was from an xr3i i think so the regulator wasnt a riseing rate one, so i got one from someone on hear and it didnt cure the problem but im not convinced the one iv got now is working, the pump is brand new, im trying to get the car to a running state to take it to a rooling road.

Re: fuel pressure regulator
i got ya.
well, dunno what FPR you had on the 3i fuel rail, as all the cvh EFI fuel rails use a webber adjustable FPR.
zetec's had non adjustable FPR though, you got the right one for the car? post a pic i'll tell ya
