Thanks for the comments so far.
The engine temp is governed by the stat. Do u all use the standard 88 C stat?
Are low temp fan swithches available? If so,from where?
Any more comments welcome
Did any off u crazy kids go to castle coombe yesterday?

Stoned :I got a standard one atm, but it's get's too hot so I will get an alu one soon from GRS
you`ll find its furred up and full of cack, ally one aint much better but its an improvement, standard ones have a habbit of blowing end caps of esp if u have ally header tank, as they normally come with 1.3 bar cap standard ones are normally 1 bar.

would you say its better to pick an mix or go with 2 of the same brand?
I think there's a lot of mixed reviews re: intercoolers. Saying that I know that pace are taking a pasting on here.
Are these really that bad? Cos I was thinking of getting one due to the fact its easier to fit than those massive ones.

Pace ones are better than a similarsized ford item,
GRS intercoolers have a larger surface, so will cool better than a small surface.
An Ally rad will be an improvement over a standard ford item.
Craig, If you had a larger GRS cooler fitted, would the size of the rad actually matter with an extra 2-3 length?

There are I/C that are 10 times better than a Pace item and about 1/4 of the price..................... look to Ford again but not RST
there are others, but being a typical Scot it's top secret........... 24 cans of beer will make me tell u

haven't had any problems with my (new) standaard ford rad..
yeah .. the engine gets warm/hot.. but the rad can cope as long as the fan switches on and turns rapidly ....
it might be a long shot.. but check the relais of the fan .. i probably is half way gone .. then the fan doesn't do it's job properly .. (fan turning at just half the speed it's supposed to.. cooling just half the amount it used to )
fitting a second fan will help too (on a seperate relais though)
i used to have a cooling problem with my xr2 ('85) but after changing the rad for a new ford item the problem was all solved..
you can also tape the exhaust housing and the downpipe of the turbo with anti heatdissipating tape.
