Frst blowing like a mofo.

Postby xjtaggedx on Tue Feb 04, 2014 10:54 pm

I have a massive clicking sound coming from my engine bay and exhaust tone is a little deeper. I have been advised it is the exhaust blowing. So manifold, downpipe, etc I have been looking around for a new 1 or steal etc but no luck. Just curious where you boys get your parts from. Also please help with finding a engine mount. Genuine! Thank yo.

A little more info may help chap,
Are you on a t2 or t3 turbo? will depend on the manifold.
do you know if its the manifold or downpipe ??

Sorry for lack of info. I am on the original t2 setup. I have no idea. Could it be the gaskets? Or unlikely?!

The arnt any gasket on the down pipe, if I remember correctly. Try running the car and getting under the front and see where it's coming from.

Have a look around where the turbo meets the manifold, manifold to head or where the join in the downpipe is for a little black patch of soot you may be able to identify where its coming from. It may be a gasket or a join.
Manifolds and downpipes look on here in parts for ale or ebay bud :D

most cvh engine have some tappet noise you can buy a full kit cam tappets and all the stuff you need to do it if your changing the springs then do the stem seals as well as for the blowing get someone to hold a rag over the tailpipe and look for smoke coming out the exhaust at each one of the seals , dont buy bits till you know whats wrong

it depends fully on the spec of the engine what you want from it ,,if your asking whats best well buy a Newman cam with solid lifters but if its a standardish car id try and find a good standard profile can with desent lifters and put some good oil in it BUT if its a new cam it MUST be broke"bedded" in properly or it will just fail

I have had piper and kent and im running a standard ford cam now but would only put a newman in if needed
Where abouts are you as a cam change isnt that big a job but to be fair im a ts mech :) :)

this is exactly what i didnt want, a dilemma, so we have kent, newman, and piper. burton power do a few kits at about £400 not including cam. i will only be going up to a stage 2, so max 195bhp. not to sound like a dickhead but is a 1 day job?

Ticking has gone, manifold and manifold gasket fitted and working perfectly. Also forge actuator installed and car is mental, wheel skid in 3rd 4th gear while drive but get massive turbo lag which I didn'tget nbeforewith tthe standard actuator. 1 thing Idid nnotice though and I know it's a long shot but when giving it some in 5th gear at about 100mph and only when foot on the gas I feel and hear a grinding rubbing, vibrating sound from the engine or gas pedal. Any ideas what so ever? Thank you.
