Front passenger side caliper sticking

Problem or technical question?

Front passenger side caliper sticking

Postby Mav Singh on Tue Dec 02, 2014 12:27 pm

hey all the front passenger side caliper seems to be sticking on all the time, noticed it yesterday. passenger side wheel gets considerably hotter than driver side wheel after a drive. applying the brakes makes the car pull to the right so its like the passenger side caliper is partly stuck on and under braking its not applying more force and not releasing when brake pedal is released.

does this mean i need a whole new caliper? or can this be rectified by cleaning out and re-greasing the sliders.

either caliper piston is seized, pads are seized in carrier or I have seen brake hoses collapsing internally, if the piston is seized you can rebuild them but to be honest the price of recon units is pretty cheap these days.

yes I checked this one yesterday to see if it could be cleaned up, the rubber boot has come off the piston and the piston is now all rusted up and not sliding back in. will need to get new caliper now.

anyone know the spanner size to remove the brake line from the caliper?
