yea right lol, and im merry poppings

i agree with rob, the 1.3 is much more bearable, the 1.1 isnt imo

i have had a 1.3 mk3 and mk4 and the mk4 i used for over a year with the 1.3 in

its a much better engine

My 1.1 cruises at 80! i used to drive back and forth to cardiff everyday and would do 80mph there and back no problem with no issues.

obviously its not fast, but like ive always said ive got plenty of time for fast cars im happy just cruising in the little 1.1!

RS rob :as i started on a 1.1 first aswell,
i then progressed to a 1.3 there was quite a difference, did'nt have to change down on hills etc
same exhaust system was alot louder,

i reckon if your dead set on going for the carbs etc, then hats off to you
but get a 1.3 in there first, make it a little more worth while!

I am definatly buying the parts needed then fitting them at some point with a little help. Honestly don't know when though. I know what you mean with the comparision with the 1.1 to the 1.3, but my current engine has done low milege, and might I add, A BLOODY MINTER! Sooo maybe in the near future I'll upgrade to a better engine. Hopfully not a 1.3 though, maybe look into something bigger and better than that. But expect the wee 1.1 too stay with some meaty carbs on it. :Q

xr2ilookalike :its ashame about that dent it does look like it should pop out though as said that swage line might cause problems

are you still putting bike carbs on??

whats yours go like is it 1.1 or 1.3?

Yeah. Correct, I am still planning on having bike carbs put on. With some big help off a bloke on here that done it to his Si. Not too sure when I'll do it though... Definatly sometime this year.

1.1 mate, does the job for me. I'm not that heavy footed so I dunno how fast I can get outta it, probs around 80mph LOL

my old 1.1 could do 86mph hahah was so slow!

ive had 90 out of mine sure it would touch 95 but need a long flat road :D

as far as 1.3 every time ive asked about putting a 1.3 in ive been told not to bother they are not much better, after reading these replys a 1.3 sounds a easy and good idea

meh i dunno, could be a bit big and a different bolt design

i dont agree though, most of them ppl who said that it aint worth using the 1.3 over the 1.1, it is better, its very similar mpg and has alot more poke, its got alot more torque then the 1.1 even though its only got 5 more bhp

and its litrally a straight swap, out and in

eBay  £30, came with bushes obviously... But not Polybushed I'm afraid. There is a Genuine Ford Seller on eBay. Lower arms going cheap with him at £30. New bolts I bought from my local Ford for £12, for all of them lol

if the threads are ok on yours no, you can reuse the old ones.

i would however get a ball joint pinch bolt in juat in case, they can be a bit of a nightmare with the torx head and rusting in resulting in damaged threads beating them out

I'll get the link up asap. Good stuff on eBay.

As for the Lowerarm bolts. I've always been told to buy new ones when replacing the Lowerarms. Better to be prepared. Their cheap anyway. Can get a full set at Ford for about £12

Yeah best to buy the bolts.

I'm unsure mate. Can't find the seller. There's loads though, just use keywords 'Genuine Ford'

There's a guy on this forum actually that sells on eBay. Tom Peters?

Ford specify you must use new bolts but TBH that's just them covering themselves. As Jay said, if the threads are good then you'll be fine re-using the bolts.

The nuts must definitely be replaced, though.

Postby EUFez on Tue Jan 11, 2011 4:49 pm

Abit of good news. Fitting the rear Gaz coilovers tomorrow, with the new Ford Bolts. Then all four corners will be lowered. Can not wait! Not all mouth no more... Pictures to follow. :Q

Bad news - Went over a giant pothole a few days ago and one of my Weller steel wheels has been damaged. They look awful on the car anyway. As for the Allycats, I've got the rear ones but still haven't got the front ones. I bought them off a mate and there literally stuck on his Mk1 Fiesta, tried almost everything to get them off. We need an air gun or something. I'm so gutted! Won't be seeing them for a while. Paid for them aswell, p*sstake!

Oh and if anyone has some Fiesta Si arch spats then let me know. Would they fit the rear of the car?

Pictures tomorrow,

James

All four corners are lowered now. GAZ Coilovers are fitted and on the lowest setting.

Got all four Allycat alloys now aswell. Trial fitting them tomorrow, but for now, the Wellers.

Here's the photos you've all been waiting for:

:Q

Don't worry, it's not staying that low. It's not good that low... As the fuel tank is 2inches off the floor and the exhaust hits the floor when rolling. So it's going abit higher.

More photos to follow...

Cheers guys. Get sooo much attention from it. Well I would anyway... Because the exhaust makes terrible noises when I'm rolling. Scrapping on the floor. Ahaha! Allycats are going on tomorrow, but... Not driving with them on, as the Police said I must get bigger arches to fit them alloys, otherwise I'll get fined.

Idea... Front Fiesta Si front arch spats. Anyone selling? Let me know, then they'll go on the rear. LOL!
