Ford changed Si Thermostat 88c to 92c?

hello, i enquired with ford for a new thermostat for my 1.6 si mk3.5, and the one they pulled out had 92c stamped on it. looks like they dont do the 88c one that originally came on the car. i checked the original part number even with fordpartsuk and they said its been replaced with the new part number with is 92c.
now i can get a cheapo pattern part which is 88c but does anyone know why it was changed to 92c? and if using the 92c stat will it cause issues?
