Good on you, it's looking a million times better already! I hope you're enjoying modifying it. It's all the small things like the dash, mirrors, seats, carpet etc that add up to make it a much nicer car. Good work :)

At last - i finally got my Rs bonnet resprayed.

I know the colour looks a little different , thats due to the paintwork on my car fading. Requires some serious T-cut.

I think im the only person ever to pay to have the ford line put back on the bonnet . . .

Also i know the bonnet needs adjusting from the huge gap on passenger side.

I'll help you rebuild it if you find me a nice one lol. I’ve found one in my area same color as yours but they guy is dreaming and wants a grand for it. I’ve said ill give him £700 if he removes the wheels etc and whatever he wants etc. It’s mint though apart from the tail gate a bit of rust around the wiper arm. And hey its only done 63,000 woooh

Hi all.

Ive been quoted £85 to fit the kent camshaft and to sort the oil seals too, Dont know if thats good or what ? :-?

Should be fun once thats fitted

I have finally got round to sorting the rusty filler cap area on my xr2i but have chose to change it to the mk3.5 filler pannel with fuel flap.

Dont ask why but i think it looks better flush.

Image

Mk3.5 on the left and Mk3 on the right.

Not as easy as just slapping the Mk3.5 panel on though, keep that in mind!

Dont worry - I have looked into whats involved to change the fuel filler. Been to fords and ordered the new filler cap and flap with all inner wing attachments. £39.75 in total :P

ive been quoted £75 to fit and spray the mk3.5 filler pannel.

So im looking at £130. Which aint bad.

I cant believe nobody has mentioned the kent cam - doesnt anybody have a 2i with it in to give me a idea about what its like ???

You'll probably notice an improvement with the cam, but more likely from it replacing a worn standard cam. An uprated cam on an engine like the XR2i CVH won't give you much improvements over a standard cam without other work too, such as head work and a better flowing exhaust system, etc...

I think Kent used to quote about +14bhp for their XR2i cam, didn't they? I wouldn't expect anywhere near that without a lot of other work.

Atif/Xr_Dub had a Kent CVH32 Cam in his old XR2i lump apparently (see his engine for sale post here: http://www.fiestaturbo.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=118532 ). May be talk to him about everything else he has done too.

i had a kent cam in a mk2 XR2. It made it idle a bit lumpy but it pulled like a train! Although i don't know if it had any other work done to it, so this reply is pretty useless, but there you go

Got new pieces of this mk3.5 jigsaw puzzle.
Filler flap £15.88
Filler housing £16.50

Im told now i need a new filler neck and a different inner wing pannel.
Hopefully pick these up at the scrap yard as guy at fords wants £38 for filler neck alone and he cant guarantee it will be the correct part .... :-?

Nice one

Hi all,

Small update but loads of pics :P

Added : Rs Spoiler, Mk5 aerial, mk4 dials, New rear bumper with New blue bumper insert, Euro rear light cluster.

Also had the windscreen change because of a small 2 inch crack which got alot bigger

Was so relieved to finally wave goodbye to that horid black plastic spoiler and welcome a lovely polished rs one. :D

Let me know what you think.....

Cheers, knuckles :)
