Car's looking good! Good work on the bumper! :D What paint did you use? Looks like a very very good match! Is it? Can be hard to tell in photo's sometimes :-?

Gutted for you seeing the rust  You've done the right thing just preventing it for now. We're into summer, so it won't get worse as quickly as it would in the wetter months, here's hoping you can have all that rot cut out and replaced with fresh steel :)

the painting was done in a bodyshop

used standard radiant red i think, also the bonnet was done a little while ago so thats why it may blend in a little better.

it is a slightly different colour to the rest, but i dont think its too noticable.........he may tell you otherwise because he likes it to be perfect :)

oh and i am a tight git :P

Yes both was done in local sprayers using ford radient red. It is a little different to the rest of the car as my car has had a respray at one point in its life by a previous owner.

How do i like to be perfect ?

I just like things done a certain way to a certain standard. :Q

Bit of an update.

Got round to changing over my Efi unit to the reconditioned one i been working on for the last few weeks. Big thanks to ghost for getting his hands dirty too :bonkers:

I basically took my old efi unit off my dead engine, took it apart , renewed all the gaskets, renewed the fuel injector o rings. While it was apart i gave it a clean and used a wire brush drill bit and got it back to gleaming metal. Tcut metal polish made it nice and smooth too.

Pics :Q

Image
Before i started

Image
Stripped down and cleaned

Image
Refurbished

Image
Fitted

Image
Looking good :P

Also drained and flushed the coolant, used speedflush to remove limescale and blockages, Renewed the thermostat temperature switch and soldered a new fan wiring connector on as my last one melted.

I have noticed that it runs smoother now i have done all the following. When it idles it is alot better. The coolant was virtually yellow and smelt so bad.

Few more latest pics... :oooh:

would be nice, but the gammon slipper before him seems to have repaired it funny, and there is no way that the little black piece will go in

i agree though, and that is the only thing letting down a great car

Cheers for the comments guys.

Yeah filler cap does let it down :x - maybe when i know a decent welder , hint hint , i may get it done.

New plates are on the adgender but not as important as getting it running right. May even look up setting it up on the rolling road since i will soon be adding a superchip with the camshaft kit. :)

All i know is superchips is the make of the chip and it has a blue cover.

Aparently just plugs straight in, i aint got any specifics on it but its for xr2i cvh. I got it for £50 just waiting for it in the post. :P

Does anyone know somewhere local to me (Enfield) that does rolling road setups ? And how much it may cost ?? :-?

Cheers

I love this thread :) So nice to see someone putting in the thought and time to bring an ugly duckling (so to speak) up to the standard it is now, you're doing a really good job of it all :) Remind me how old you are again? There seem to be some sub-20s on here with very good taste these days, makes a nice change!! Inlet looks very good! ;)

Update for july.

Can you guess what i have done ?

Image
Looks like a normal mk3.5 mirror ?

Image
Wheres the adjuster ?? :-?

Image
Ahhh .....

Electric mirrors fitted to the mk3 XR2i.
The mad scientist at fiestaguides has once again come up with genius loom making. I wont give away too many trade secrets but the guide for doing this will soon be on www.fiestaguides.co.uk

All Fitting was plug and play - No soldering.... Putting the loom through the door grommet was a bit of a nightmare but the end result is well worth it. Also it means i wont kerb my rear wheels anymore while reverse parking :Q

Image
The mk4 inner trim pannels had to be cut to fit with the mk3 door card. Leaves a little gap on the drivers side...

Image
And a bigger gap on passenger side

Image
I basically purchased some mk4 electric mirrors on ebay then swaped the electric motors from the mk4 mirrors to the mk3.5 outer case.

The adjuster switch came from a mondeo which is same for all fords with electric mirrors.

Image
They are heated too :P Will be useful in the winter season.

Comments as usual.
