*****Update 16/4/06******
Xr2i back from the dead with another engine.
Last week i helped Remove the old engine and spent 3 hours cleaning the engine bay.
Old engine covered in milk chocolate oil
New engine in
Runs nice but i do miss the kent cam extra pull. Sorted the clutch while gearbox was off and fitted a new water pump. Still have to do oil change.
But today i removed the front bumper to send it to be resprayed.
Bit rusty but nothing to major for a J reg
pulled the blue stripe off and removed the horid glue. The white bits is where the paint chiped off
Then used gav's old rs bumper as a spare
Any comments welcome
Cheers Knuckles

Speaking from experience - I went and did the the halfrauds spray-paint on my lil' Fezzy - then decided 3 months later it actually did look ghastly. So I'm slowly replacing the "blue" bits with originals (it's costing me a few bob... but an important lesson...).
Only a few more parts to get, and Jano [OddKid?] is supplying me with them (cheers mate!)
You won't like it in 3 or 4 months time - £5 says so

Wednesday i got my oil changed for a £10 which also included getting a rounded off sump plug off
I used some engine flush and run it for 15 mins at high revs like it says on the tin. It Really done it a world of good. Cleaned all the sludgy oil out also quietened the hydrolic lifters too.
purrs like a dream now.

Update, got round to fitting my new brake pads and brake discs thanks to Mr ghost
New and old brake discs
Discs fitted ....
Just need to paint the calipers red now.
Pics of bumper as it was just resprayed.
So smooth
Bumper fitted with a new blue insert.
Not bad for £50
Let me know how it looks ....

Bit of a update - Got round to fitting the full stainless steel Mongoose exhaust and painting my rear brake drums. Still waiting for the rain to stop 5 days later so i can paint the front calipers red.
Just simply used a wire brush to remove rust and flakey stuff then went at it with black smooth hamerite.
Few pics of the mongoose.
The finished result with wheel fitted
Also i went out to my car after it stop raining to find my passenger footwell soaking wet. A little more investigating found this .....
Water leaking through window rubber
The water has been running down a slight hole around the bottom of the windscreen rubber and has collected there and made a hole. I can see daylight through the inner front wing, it has rusted through both pannels.
I will use some bathroom sealant around the hole along the window until i can afford to get the hole welded up .....
i dread to think what i will find behind my petrol filler pannel.

Its looking good at the mo mate. I have a feeling then the cars not as solid as you thought, just like mine. Mine was in for MOT last week and my bro got it up on the ramp looked at the floor and laughed saying " f**k me, im glad I sold this"

I been too busy getting water out off my footwell. Bathroom sealant has stopped water getting in for now but looks horid around the window.

Hi - Little more progress with the front brakes.
Used the foliatec brake caliper paint set £24.99 from halfords. The set includes brake cleaner, red caliper paint, and paint hardener.
The foliatec sets come in loads of colours (red, blue, yellow, orange, green, silver, black) and is also suitable for engine painting and alloy wheels too.
Turned out better than just using hammerite paint.
