Fiesta V6 Project

Postby crispa on Thu Oct 17, 2002 3:41 pm

Just an Idea at the moment!

Has anyone every tried to put the Ford Galaxy 2.8 V6 205hp engine in a fiesta. Its the same engine as in the Golf VR6 but it has all ford bits on it.

I know ppl have thought about the mondeo v6 buts its to big but the vr is a narrow angle! and very short.

I have no idea as to if it would fit etc but if u can put a cossie engine in then a v6 will fit. Just gotta be handy with the welder and be able to make up custom mounts etc. :D

Anything will fit!

Just depends on how handy you are with an angle grinder and a welder.

So cut away the boot floor and mount the sub frame in the back like the V6 Clio. Lot of work and cooling would need a bit of thinking but think of the possiblitys VR6 turbo 850hp fiesta mid engine NICE!!!

Call Ian Howell and ask him if he thinks it's worth doing. ;)

Remember the RWD V6 Fiesta that was for sale last year? That was his.

The 2.8 Cologne V6 engine is a pile of sh*te, and it's longditidunally deisnged, ie, for RWD Sierras.

The best engine IMO is the Duratec V6. In partiicular the 3.0 V6 from the MondeoST220, 220bhp and 275lb ft of torque normally aspirated! :D

It should go into a fiesta also FWD with just a few welds and grinds :) Not too much effort.

(Unlike the 2.8 V6 which is RWD and the whole chassis/floor pans would have to be altered to suit)

Surely the Galaxy engine is a Zetec not a Cologne?

Philm Not talking about the old sierra engine we were talking about the galxay VR6 engine which is FWD tranversly designed by VW for the VR's and brought by ford and changed abit and its the nutz.

If you want to go nutz out with a ford v6 which are all to big to go up front so you need to go to the rear then you should forget the mondeo engines and go for the Jag 3.0L which is ford/cosworth designed and sand cast designed to run trans!!! very very sweet

the avantage of the jag version is that all engine extras like alternator, powersteering pump etc.. are all bolted ditrectly to the block rather than have brakets like most cars all so it has variable intake manifolds for extra torque. little bit more development money went in to the jag engine over the st200 but both still top engines :D

Chum, indeed, the ST24 one has 170, ST200 has 200bhp. But i'd recommend the 3.0 V6, as per ST220, 220bhp & 275lb ft of torque  :D
