Hi, I am looking for an identity for my new shell, could I use one of those that is in the scraped section?? amd how would I go about getting the details for it??

in short, no, what you proposing is against the law, its basicly "ringing" the car.
all the cars listed in the scrapped section have more than likly had there reg doc sent back to DVLA which update there files and put it as scrapped, and there is no chance of getting the deatils of that car transfered, ok you could maybe buy the reg number from them, but it will be asigned to the car you want to put it on, so if its going a 1.1, the new reg number will also show that car as a 1.1 when checked on different sites, and dont think you could tell them its a FRST cos there want the reg number, chassie number etc from the car/shell it is to be asigned to.

if you bought a FRST shell/car you would of course get the log book and it would be registered to you, what you done with it/its ID is your business, but as far as transfering a number plate, vin tag, and chassie number as stampped in the floor, to another car is againt the law and classed as "ringing"

I tottaly know what you are saying here, but I have bought a new unstamped or registered shell, and I have all the relevant details and vin plates from a Fiesta RS turbo, to put on the shell along with the chassie number to stamp on the floor, but it has 7 previous owners and was looking to get a scrap one from a car that had less owners, obviously i would rather have a log book and details fron a genuine FRST, after all I will be building, efectivley a new fiesta turbo.

ah, well that is a different story, if its a brand new shell with no id, DVLA will give it one.
im not 100% sure how it works with brand new shells, but if you put a rst lump in it then it should be registered as a FRST with you as the 1st owner, but as ive said i dunno how it works.
you might be able to transfer the plate and details from a frst (that is registered to you) to the new shell, but i would say bell up DVLA and speak to someone there, worst case you might have to have it on a Q plate, which you dont want so you would have to work around that....... if you catch my drift, but check it out to see what you can and cant do by law

I have looked in to it all, I have spoke to VOSA, DVLA and some trafic cops regarding it, and some guys at work, If I was to register it as a new car and let VOSA do the strict MOT to give it a new identity, iy would need things like a catalitic converter, now I dond think it would run as it should with one of those. so the other potion I had was to get a rotten or writen of car to use the details and transfer it all over to the new shell. Aparently this happens all the time when a car is in a bad smash, just reshell it.

This was the option I took as when its done I could just get it MOT'd and taxed and of I go.

cant see it needing a cat, when i spoke to a mot guy ages ago and said about putting zetec engine in a mk2 he said i would need to fit a cat as it goes on the engine not the car when the engine is changed, this would also work the other way round, if you had say a mk6 fiesta and put a 91 FRST lump in you dont need the cat as the engine was built before the cat ruling came in, so cant see any reason why you would have to have a cat

I think it would need a cat as it will be built from scratch after the rouling came in Agh not sure I will have to look in to it all abit more

if you putting a cvh engine in it and you can prove it was built pre ruling you should be fine
