Fiesta mk2 - ready for ford fair !
Re: Fiesta mk2 1.1
MK2 Jamie :My Ghia came with the rear speakers mounts. Theres a pic in my thread on how I did the speakers. I think, like mentioned above, only high end fiestas came with them. My mates 1.1L didnt have them.
Knuckles have you done the ARB yet? if not bolt it to the bottom of the car first then bolt it to the beam/bottom of the shock. Its so many easier doing it that way round as I found out yesterday.
no havent done the arb yet , went to B&Q today to buy the really long bolts which go through the shock at bottom.
so fit the arb to the shocks first at bottom then attach them onto the brackets ?

Re: Fiesta mk2 1.1
wow, seems more mk2's come with rear speakers than mk3's, few mk3s come with them, ghias, RS/XR and some few Si
even worse in the mk4, only ghias and a few other added extra models had them
scarey

If im thinking of the same cup then there is on one side bolt then there should be a little lip on other side of the cup the slides into a little slot or are you talking about the bit that the cup fixes too?

Re: Fiesta mk2 1.1
Since it was a dry day today and i have no more rs to work on
I got round to fitting the Rear anti-roll bar
Started by getting the arse off the ground and offered up the brackets and bolted them up.

Once the brackets were on i basically unhooked the p clips then put anti roll bar up then removed the shock bottom bolts.
offered up the bar bolted to bracket then bolted to the shock with the drop links.

This pic shows anti roll bar fitted to the bottom of the shock, Longer bottom bolts was required with new lock nuts.

Clearance from back of brake drum from the nut/bolt.
Cant wait to see if it makes much of a differance tomorrow.

Re: Fiesta mk2 1.1
With a mk2 you can use the original 4sp box or a 5sp box without any cutting. Just drops straight in.

5 speed models were normally the xr2 models
most of the 1.1 car engine mk2's ive seen are 4 speed.

All MK2's were 4sp unless it was an XR2 or a 1.3/1.4 CVH which were all 5sp but they're pretty rare.

oh, i understood that the 1.3 cvh was only aviable in europe
would a mk3 5 speed box fit the mk2?
i know the gearbox cradles and mounts are the same, and yet again both had cvh and hcs engines

Re: Fiesta mk2 1.1
5 speed is, ans iirc, the mk3 linkage will fit the later mk2
early mk2's, like my xr2, had the early linkage, simular to what was fitted to the early mk3 escort, and what i love about my early linkage is, the fact you have to push the gearstick down then pull back to get it in reverse

So what red did the later mk2 come in?
Does the earlier linkage still fit the mk3 box then? Or do you just fit a later linkage

Re: Fiesta mk2 1.1
On the topic of gear boxes my first mk2 fiesta was 5 speed from the factory, it was a "fresco" model 1.1.
Im not so sure the mk3 linkage fits though? I never tried it but ive also never heard of it either?
with my 2.0 zetec im using a fiesta si gearbox but dont really recommend it as the ratios are pathetic! 5th gear is far to short, as are all of them really. Its good for initial acceleration but thats about it, depends what you want it for i guess.
Gareth.

The return to standard, from the above sig pics - back to how Ford intended..............
