FAO andyhardy and nosey people...
Right Andy, I've chopped some piccies down to size and uploaded them in the hope that they might give some giggles and feelings of inspiration
Some of these pictures haven't been seen on FT before I don't think, and I hope it'll give you the need to finish your so-nearly-completed master project which looks oh so good
Photo 1, my car JUST after I got it for my 18th, 3 years ago. By this stage I had no plans to modify, but had been offered a free RS accesory spoiler, so duly attached it and besides the Texas wheel trims and red "GTI" gear knob, this was where it finished in my mind at the time!
Photo 2, the bug had bitten. After joining fiestaturbo.com, it didn't take long for me to want alloys and bumpers. You know how things carry on from there...
Photo 3, a trip out to the fells with a huge number of modifications over a short space of time gave me the comfort of Recaros, the superb handling of my new suspension and anti-roll bar, and long-awaited stopping power of my uprated brakes, not to mention my lovely new 15s with all their extra grip. I had an enormous grin on my face, even with less than 60bhp on tap.
Photo 4, the same trip, brimming with pride and now the car was prepared for more power, the Mondeo TDI was in my sights.
Photo 5, the Mondeo engine now in and singing I buzzed down to Manchester and met briefly with Rawli at the Trafford Centre. His car is a star on the show that is FT.com, and I love this picture.
Photo 6, by now it had all thoroughly gone wrong. Temperature problems ending my fun, car off the road for a month, and me very upset, driving my Ford Fiesta Metro City with gloom filling the beige interior
Photo 7, my grandfather gave me a day at a Hillclimb track school and leant me this, his Formula 27 (a Caterham-style kitcar with Honda Blackbird motorbike engine, 160bhp @ rear wheels and 12,000rpm to hand). It came when I was considering giving up on the Fiesta, so was a welcome break.
Photo 8, as my car has been since August 1st when I attempted to make it to the RS Thrash in York to meet up with Banafell and S1. My trip ended 10 miles in, with me sitting on the kerb with my car at about 9:15am staring at all the steam and boiling water cascading out of my header tank and spraying all over my beautifully-polished engine. I have to look away each time I walk past it to come into the office because it feels like walking past someone who's died. I am still clawing my way back to getting it working, but as you know, it's a difficult road to stay on...
Andy, like I said in my other post, you have to decide what is more important, the car or how you feel, but what I DIDN'T mention is how much it would upset you seeing the car go. That, in my mind, would outweigh the short-term torture of finalising what you've been working at for so long. I hope these pics have taken your mind of things for a bit, and made you realise I also seem to have a receeding hairline (although it's been the same since I was about 11
)!! You have everyone's support, so feel free to moan and whinge at us all, and I'll be back on MSN in a few weeks for more whinging and late night randomness
Chin up mate
James.

Great post as usual James.
You say Rawli's car is a star, well I reckon your's is too. You took it from it's humble beginnings as basic model, and modified it, but didn't take the usual route. It's projects like yours that I find the most interesting. Get it running & come & visit me n Banafell down south.
Andy, keep at it mate. It would be a real shame to give up on all the time & effort that you have put into it.

Hey mate,
Thanks for posting it up - reminds me of the turbo in alot of ways (although it was already pretty quick when I bought it - shame it didn't have the brakes and suspension to match at the time!).
Yeah - I remember seeing all of these posts of your car and thinking that would be quite a fun project with the Diesel
I drove the car again today and it was misfiring like a pig but I still loved it for the short amount of time that it was running ok.
I really have done alot of thinking - and seeing as it's so close to being finished I can't bare to see it all broken up, too much of my life has gone into it to leave the story with no end!
Cheers,
Andy

Hey andy if you want any more inspiration to rescue a car that thoroughly deserves not being broken up...

I'm glad ppl enjoyed it, it's always nice to have some pictures to look back at what you've done
Excursion - I've been waiting for the usual retards to "look into things" with regard to hoses to make the rad fit, lost a lot of time with dead ends. Lee at Fusion is now making me up some lovely metal pipe to get me going again, so will plumb rad and intercooler in again when I have the pipes and hoses and start the engine up again. In my dream last night the white smoke had gone on startup, I hope it's the same in real life
Also in the dream I was driving it with no rad or intercooler, so maybe it wasn't an accurate indication
S1 - Thanks, that means a lot
I'd say the same thing, but you have about 27 cars and they're all quality
I'm back at uni in three weeks' time and I very much doubt I'll be rolling by then, but I'll make any shows I can once it's all sorted, would be good to meet up again.
Andy - You're the man
If you need hope/helpful abuse you're in the right place!
cheeseboy - What you on?

Cheers for that Rich!
Sorry to drag such an old post up but I've been away for two weeks lol I'll have a quick sprinkle through everything in my head now and come up with an estimate of what I've spent on it...oh dear
it's between £2,500 and £3,000 now! It stayed under £1,000 for sooo long, then came the suspension, Recaros, 15s, engine, bonnet etc. I achieved a lot in the early days for not very much, so it's still worked out quite well I reckon, price-wise. It's still sitting out in the rain though, a month last Thursday

errrrmmmmsorry mate ive been really busy! and ive had more than one request..., but cheers all the same
That wasn't aimed at you Tom. I waited over two weeks for a guy from a "silicone specialist" company to get me prices for the hoses, had to call about ten times to get hold of him (he never rang back each time I left my number with receptionish), all to discover that he couldn't find anything to suit

Thanks Tony
Tom - Glad that's cleared up. However if you don't come back from your mate's tonight with the goods, you're on the Retard List!
The 90 degree elbow's not as important as the straight bit. A 10cm length would do!
