grahamb :If you get in to the physics of propelling a front wheel drive car off the line, 4.2 seconds is highly unlikely, unless you mean 0-60 kph![]()
RWD I'd believe, but hard to do in a front wheel drive car (but not impossible given the right conditions)
If it is true though, big up to the man! He must have had some very wide slicks on it
I couldn''t agree more mate
BUT
an officially proved time is the proof of the pudding, and thast simply amazing! best bit is Paul doesn't brag about power or engine specs

The car infront is a Toyota

JESUS!!!! i'm not being bitter or anything, but it is really hard to get a FWD car to do this, i personally think its only possible with big slicks and tack bite ,, similar to the american FWD drag cars come on paul tell us what tyre were you using????? anyway nuff respect.................johnny

There's no secrets, I think a lot of it is done to my fairly small turbo which gives me a huge amount of torque low down but not a lot above 5800 revs, also I recon the combination of the ATB diff, A038's and the suspension set up just seems to work for me
IanFRST I will me changing the spec very shortly as I'm still going for that 12sec 1/4mile!

As I said before well done boy! - You deserve it.
Sunny.
Sunny.
Do you have any idea what 178.8mph feels like in a Fiesta? 2000 lb of pressure per square inch per second pushing back on your face. It feels like god himself is trying to rip the skin off your skull while someone lands a 747 on your chest.

Must be quicker than any R5GTT, or Nova. Well done for returning the crown to a Fiesta owner. Awesome.
I'd have thought you could have launched in 2nd and just kept your foot planted, 60 mph must be achievable in 2nd.
I really want to have a play now. Who organised the event yesterday? Was it PF of FF mag?

Sorry Choosey
I'll retract my original statement.
And replace it with...
"You've made Fiesta Owners all over England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Eire, Uganda, USA, Nigeria, Pakistan, Australia, Germany, Italy, Spain......(Please feel free to add the country of your choice)....................
Very Proud."

V2DEEP the boost touchs 18 and holds 16psi all the way
grahamb Cheers mate, It was a PF day for a group thrash loads of cars there including Jamie Going (jam sport) his ERST did 160.44 MPH!
also my gearing is fairly short so I just change each time I hit 5.8K I'm not sure which gear i'm in when i hit 60 but i'm pretty sure its 3rd
davy the tyres I use are road legal e-marked Yokoharma A038's they are sort of cut slick, they are standard on Lotus Exige's

Sounds like you've got the same gearing as me then. I have a 4.89:1 final drive in my Quaife box, and an ATB, so 120 is 7200 in fifth, which she pulls happily!!! I don't have the torque that you'll have, but my Mk1 should be pretty close by the sounds of things. I'm going to get some slicks and new wheels for next season. That'll help too.
160MPH, in an Escort! Flaming heck. Was he wearing a skid lid?
