No skid lid
grahamb I recently spoke to Bernie@CTS about having a Quaife gear set (despite what the feature said I only have standard gears) and he worked my gearing out to be the same as the Quaife gear set so i'd see no benifit so the recomendation is to wait till I reck the current 'box and then go Quaife.. in a way I can't wait Monte's Cossie sounded wicked going up the track!

sorry no video's available as everyone there with a camera agreed that it was very difficult to get decent footage. With having so many cars going round and parked up at the end it was too dangerous to walk up on the straight to take pics and footage apart from obviously the magazine people.
Thanks - Sunny.
Thanks - Sunny.
Do you have any idea what 178.8mph feels like in a Fiesta? 2000 lb of pressure per square inch per second pushing back on your face. It feels like god himself is trying to rip the skin off your skull while someone lands a 747 on your chest.

Sligh hitch, it seems there was a small timing gear error see below taken from http://bbs.rsownersclub.co.uk/showthrea ... adid=20027
Still the quickest ever though!!
Keith (Performance Ford Mag) :All,
With so much debate about this 0-60 time I've gone through every single run this morning to triple check. We thought it was a little bit quick, so I felt it was the right thing to do. I'm glad I did because the time isn't a 4.28... BUT it is a 4.89.
Still bonkers, still one of the quickest FWD ever and still the daddy.
The problem? It seems the poxy lap top couldn't handle all the info from Pauls run. For some reason it read 0-60 of 4.28 in the main results box but not on the 10mph time and distance section of the software. So back here in the warm office I've gone through every run in 'graph form' (well time consuming!) and all the results are spot on.
Every other run was 100% spot on. So big, big sorry to Paul R for the mix up and everybody on this board. Below is the actual time & distance data for you all:
10mph - 0.73
20mph - 1.50
30mph - 2.31
40mph - 3.33
50mph - 4.08
60mph - 4.89
70mph - 6.23
80mph - 7.80
90mph - 9.32
100mph - 11.32
Hope this clears the debate up.
Keith

well congrats again paul, but i knew something was wrong, (not disin ya) but i know the potential of the fiestas and i know that a 4.2 is not possible in that form ( street form) anyway the 4.89 is still shocking and keep on trying for the 12 sec E.T's i still think you will need an all out slick..........

Well done Paul R, that beats my 0-60 time of 4.97sec done in my N/A 2.1 16v Corsa, i also used 038R's for my runs.
My best Q' mile time is 13.28@106.4mph done at Crail, but i believe Santa pod has much more grip off the line.
Is your car interior stripped out?

The speedo stops at 142mph but the car doesn't!

Lucky B cheers I heard about your corsa where you at Trax this year? The rear of my cars interior is stipped of its rear seats, rear door cards, pasel shelf and seat belts, but has gained a roll cage and the battery.
Whats the spec of yours mate interested

Click on the link below for my cars spec Paul.
Its up for sale now
as i'm getting married next year... £7200 to a good home inc spares. I've removed the Leda's and refitted bilsteins for selling it.
I had my rear seat removed when at brunters but otherwise fully trimmed and running the softer bilstein suspension and i weigh 14st +!
I aint been to Trax, but i was down at the CCC action day at Castle Combe in April though (long drive from N.E. Scotland i'll tell ya!) that was fun, a guy reckoned a Dodge viper and i were the quickest cars there, i'd no LSD fitted at the time either, wheelspin in 3rd out of all the corners with the 038R's on!

Would love to keep quite and just turn up one day in it
That would shut them up and make them wellllll jelous.

PaulR, the Quaife gear set saves power too, absorbs less than a conventional box, so it runs cooler, and allows you to put even more power to the ground... As well as sounding great of course

Well Stephen, my cars in Scot-ads tomorrow for £7200 (inc spares).
I'm getting married in April so need the dosh, i'm gutted at having to sell it
cause its so much fun and yet easy on the wallet.
Hold on, i'll get you autotraders phone number for your escort...
As long as its sold before April.
It might not sell this week, just as long as no ba'heed buys it and sticks it a field or through a shop window, that would be such a waste.
So if some young guy turns up in a beat up old nova/fiesta with a baseball cap on i'll turn him away
I think 1/4 throttle in enough for your average driver.
If you'd like to put down a deposit, my car can sit in my garage till you sell your car...

Lucky B,when is it you would need all the cash as i just got my Cossie in July this year and already including the £17000 i paid for it ive spent £25000.So i want 1 years use out of it as ive always wanted one.Prob be july 2003 it goes up for sale.
Then i move out and get my own place and will able to afford the money for that car easy.Ive always wanted that car since i heard bout it along time ago.Have got video footage of it going round knockhill with it keeping up with a TVR.
Dont mean to sound like im taking the p#ss but would u take a deposit of x amount just now and the rest when i sell the Cos.
Told a mate that ur car was for sale and the rest of my mates have been texting me saying sell the cos and get that corsa.lol
