My Escort cossie wheels were ET25 and stuck out at front, however with FRST's the wheels sit in towards car more as syrsmads stuck out more than mine did

1.1 has wider track at the rear fact founed this out after i fitted my new 17's after i changed 2 a 2i rear set up

FiestaBoy - exactly what did you change when you went over to the 2i rear setup? Did you use 2i drums as well?

ET15 will physically fit, but as approx 1" further out of the wheelarch.

Wider track on the FRST is made by increasing the negative camber on the front wheels (through use of longer lower arms) which is why the top of the wheel sits further in.

i tried to put ET18 16's on my 1.1 and that was a fookin bad idea, they came off the same day. they stick out a mile, look stupid, are illegal unless you get some super wide arches, rub like a bicth and waste a lot of time if you buy them (speaking from experience). wouldnt bother.
