Tell me about it, I sold a bunch of stuff on Ebay and the total for all the items came to around £77. I paid £7 something in fees, plus paypal took about 50p in fees for each payment. So I paid about £15 in fees in total! It's a complete rip off, Ebay really do screw the seller over.
The thing is there is no where else to sell your stuff, I heard Google were developing an auction website but had legal problems with Ebay over it.

I've been a member now since 2001 and can't ever remember a time when they were ever near as expensive as they are now. There just too greedy now. It ends up that the odd few items I sell just end up paying the relisting fees for the items that don't.
Another con: as an eBay seller your required to accept paypal payments. That's handy considering that it's also an eBay company that carries a 3.4% fee on money received.

And after they have taken all that money, if you have problems with the buyer, you can't leave honest feedback due to it either having to be postive or nothing at all

dont blame you mate. Obviously i don't expect ebay to be free, but nearly 20% loss on the overall sale is daylight robbery

What i did last time when i owed ebay fees................ I told them that i didnt actually sell the item and the buyer messed me around so they knocked it down to a £10 when it should of been £35 and they suspended my account for a while aswell.

If you read the terms and conditions that you have accepted to list items on eBay it makes it quite clear that you have to pay the fees - this isn't just directed at you mate, but I regularly see these posts, and people seem somehow suprised.
As much as I agree that eBay's fees are fairly hefty, they're nothing compared to physical auction houses and eBay is still the biggest place to sell things.

They won't be if they carry on the way they are going.
Not just with the fees but all their "Making ebay better" things too.

tbh honest some things i'll rather get something for then throw them in a skip or leave them in storage to gather dust or rot !!!
or just find forums where it is free to advertise and wait for ever to get rid of things.....
forums can be good for selling some times not, just gotta be lucky someone wants you stuff at the time on you having them up for sale
on ebay there is always someone that will want it

Cancel your card you registered with so they can't take any money, make another email account up with hotmail,re-register with ebay using new card.
Oldest trick in the book.
Depends on how you feel about it though and your ebay account.
I do know people that registered in a false address, sold a few cars, did the above, and that was the end of it, the likelyhood of ebay chasing it up is minimal, the amount of users they have and that.
Naughty i know but you sell a car £8 to advertise and its about £50 if and when it sells..
