dodgy wiring not starting now?
hi guys,
well since having my xr2i, my rev counter has never worked, even after changing the clocks. so to cut the story short, some times putting the main beam on or fogs, the rev gauge would pop up for a few seconds and tonight driving home i put the indicator on to go left and the rev gauge went up then stopped dead at the bottom as usual and out of know where, my car died. i now have no ignition. my engine will spin over, i can get side light and so on but theres no ignition light or battery light and will not start. also it looks like in the past it had a security device but in the past i could not find anything wired in bar the lil speaker things in the top corners of the windscreen pillars. so anyone have a clue? it does run like a sac of sh*t but i didn't know if that had anything to do with it?

Check the wiring connections, sounds defo like you've got a bad connection. Take the steering column shroud off and check for anything obvious then with the ignition on, try playing with the wiring to see if there's a loose connection or a broken wire.

i crossed wires on the back of the ignition which gave me a big boom and spark, now its running again, but im back to square one with no rev gauge ect but it's booked into an auto electricians now as the previous owner did half make a mess of butchering the fuse box and loom :/
