Re: xr2i 2.0L ZT, 2/3 slight update :)
Cheers mate...
Does it look like the wall would take a drill and tap? (as a short term fix) or will it defo need welding... need to get mine sorted asap plus I gave my exhaust manifold to a mate to plasma cut and hes made a bit of a mess of it so ive got my work cut out getting that sorted now.

Re: xr2i 2.0L ZT, 2/3 slight update :)
lol my downpipes a mess its a t3 pipe from a escort with the last 3 inch of my t2 straight thro welded on to it loi
it wont drill and tap mate its only 5 or 6 mm thick where ive cut it!
but its short now and almost thought id f**cked it as the hole for the centre of my frst tb is bigger than the inside of the inlet!! so made a thicker plate to weld to it with the exact bore size in and its thick enough to drill and tap a take off or 2 in
even machined flats on the back underside for talkeoffs too as i made it out of round cuz its easyer! lol
so tomorrow just a tiny bit more to shave of the adaptor plate and get the sensor fitted somewhere then i wanna make fuel rail adaptor ends to fit hose sraight to so i can use a fse reg and gauge!
pitty its plastic or i would of tapped it to fit an6 or an8 hose ends
what did you do about the rail?

at the moment ive just got the standard rover rail, 3bar reg and red band injectors, should be ok to get it running... i hope
What have you done with the plate then? have you tapered the inside so the hole is smaller on the inlet side? take some pics showing the difference between TB and inlet please mate.

xr2i 2.0L ZT, 4/3 slight update with pics :)
well done a bit today! finished the inlet adaptor needed work to sit flat on the head! now looks like

cut the end of the maifold off here...

then machined this ring (as it was easyer to bore) to mount the tb too the large flat is for the tb to open without interferance and the small one will house 1 or 2 vac takeoffs

took the rover charge temp sensor out then unsrewed the plastic bung to find the ali frst bung fits nicely just wanna turn 10mm off the end soon to aid airflow to that port

now the main thing i was working on today was a way to use the rover fuel rail and a remote fse fpr with a fp gauge so first removed the crimp end of the rail adaptor to see this..... happy days usable

but the fpr end was more tricky!....
the fpr i want to use......

so knocked up a mount for it

then set about making this little bit

this has a m10 fine tapped hole and a stst pc that screws in but its in the back of the focus somewhere........ lol
so tomorrow ill be fitting thje bottom half of the inlet and making sure the top half will clear!

Re: xr2i 2.0L ZT, 4/3 pics :)
well spent an hour on the car today and did a little
first up i noticed i may have to get a zetec rear engine mount for clearence as before there was a knocking noise and i think i know wht!!, the bolt on the spacer wont fit on here as the bottom hole is behind the engine mount and i dont really wanna choppin the mount up any more! will have a better look after the inlets welded up so ill know if its sucking in air! lol
just about see what i mean on this s**t picture

then when bolting it all together i noticed one injector fell into its locatring hole and had a look and the o ring was flat on one edge!
lol so swapped that over stuck it all together and .........

for you scouse_sambo i offered the tb and plate up and it looks like this.....
that should be enough room id of thought
this is the bit im thinking about tho!.....

do i weld it on and leave it or should i try and get a bar in there and bend it a little ? shouldnt be restrictive i wouldnt think?
and for jonyb4.........

dont try and bend it out a bit with a bar!!!!
its cast it will snap. just weld it and then die grind it on the inside to blend it in as best you can.

Thanks for the pics mate... all looks good.
Is it clear of the bonnet with the TB sitting that way around?
When you have a weld on the back you should be able to grind that back pretty much flush anyway.

Not sure what its off mate, Volvo 850 in the scrappy I think, I had loads of bits lying around from when I put a front mount on my daily driver, I went the scrappy and got about 40 bits of pipe with all different bends for about a tenner
dont think that one will fit with the new manifold but its just to show it all fits nice, I was a bit unsure when I took mine to get welded up so thought id let you know it all fits. The elbow is tight against the resivour but it clears the servo by a good bit.
Good look with the job by the way

Ian Howell is doing the manifold, its still about 10 days off though so im itching to get hold of it so I can get my rad and cooler mounted
I need to get them both as far back as possible to keep the boggo bumpers
Once ive got mine up and running im hoping to swap over to megasquirt and learn how to map, what management you going for?
