Back in the game? (Nearly)

Postby s1chris on Thu Aug 07, 2014 9:22 am

Howdy all, it's been many years since I have been on ft and I'm surprised I could even remember my username and password!
But anyhow after growing up a lot, having a family and sorting myself out money and career wise, I'll be ready around Christmas time to buy a project FRST with an aim to make it mint and a keeper for playing around at weekends in.

Here's a couple of pics of my old ones -

My Mercury Grey Series 2 and FRST.

And my Moondust Silver FRST.

Oh an I currently drive a new VW Tiguan as my daily drive ( no laughing please lol)

Hi Matt,

It's a glorious position to be in to come back into ownership and not need it as daily drive for sure.

What did you get? What's your plans?

I'll be after preferably a red or white one. Standard looking but will aim to stick in a cage and a set of buckets and harnesses for optimum country lane bashing.
Engine wise just want to stick with the CVH but build a nice reliable powerful "optimised" engine. My mates also going to relive his youth and is buying an R5 GTT as well so we are going for the same thing on them both.

I'm looking at picking one up in any condition really as I'm up for a project and there's not much i haven't fixed or repaired on them in the past.

Cheers Chris

I've owned a few r5 gt turbo's I debated a return but parts prices and back ache persuaded against.

I've just purchased my friends old black h plate FRST , quite well specked , zvh, t34 , grs , CTS stage 2 + box , you get the drift , you'll find it in members gallery under "my new black frst"

Well I'm now offically "back in the game" as I Secured a black H plate yesterday.
Far from tidy and going to take a lot of work to get it back to mint but I have all the time in the world to get it finished.
Comes with a load of decent parts fitted to it an apparently a T35 turbo. Although the owner claimed it was running 205bhp I can't see it's making that on standard blues and no chip.

Will start a thread next weekend when it gets delivered.

Cheers Chris
