Anyone run (and insure) more then 1 car?
If so, how does it work out on insurance?
I really want to get another car (probably a NA Mx-5). But I'm just wondering how they work out on insurance.
for example. Assuming you have 2 of the same cars. do they just increase the insurance by 50%?
i.e. your insurance on ur fiesta is £500, you buy another fiesta thats the same. insurance goes up to £750 (to cover both).
Just wondering, as I really want to get another car, but for the life of me, cannot bear to ever get rid of my fiesta (love it too much)

I insure two cars, the insurance isn't too bad really.
I have a normal policy for the daily drive, but the XR2 is on a classic policy with strict limited mileage and is stored for the winter - as a result, it only cost £190 for the year. It was cheaper to do this than it was to have both on one policy.
Insurance is different for everyone though, so the best thing you can do is call your insurer and discuss the options. They should also be able to advise you on the cheapest way of going about it.

Best thing is to just phone up and get some quotes, as Chris said insurance isn't the same for the next person.

im 19 with 3 points so no one would insure a second car for me, not for under 3k as its an xr2 with engine change and bike carbs, put the car and insurance in the mothers name and i drive my xr2 third party through my zetec-s' insurance, worked out £300 rather than £3k.
i dont like insurance companys so do them over as much as i can

intresting. I'm 21 myself. I plan on getting the second car after I turn 22 in early 2009. Really want an MX-5, they're relatively cheap, economical, RWD and convertible! i did think about a 3series, but thats just too much of a common car.
