There something about this time of year that seems to make people feel down.

Sorry to buck the trend but I love it - sure, it's cold and wet outside but then you can enjoy going to a pub with a roaring open fire and warming up
or spending lazy Sunday afternoons at home with hot chocolate and a good film
I like it to be either really hot or really cold - one of the two, not the boring mizzly mediocre intermediary stuff!

I don't care.
Sun, rain, wind, snow, whatever. So long as I can drive to and from work and watch TV it doesn't matter.

I agree that this time of year is a bit rubbish but I'm on countdown til christmas
Infact I've been in xmas mode since september
much to Shaun's Mr Humbug's disgust...he won't be disappointed on xmas morning though
I love christmas and this year will be the best yet. Last year was miserable due to personal problems (relationship breakup and Max & a mortgage caught up in the middle of it all.) so this year Max and I will be having our first proper xmas together

Re: Anyone else not enjoying this time of year?
yes winter can be depressing, and lots of people do feel depressed in the winter, something to do with lack of sun, so the doctors say.
i dont mind the rain, but not all the time, cold is just nasty, if its going to be bloody freezing then it should be snowing imo, not just freezing on its own, that is crap.
mind you im a refigeration engineer now and spend my time in and out of freezers and friges etc so im sure ill get used to the cold, if it gets too cold out side though, ill go and stand in the walking in chiller and warm up
still winter or not i hate being stuck in, the idea of sitting at home with hot chocolate would send me mad, i have to do something, but winter time just makes it harder as you tend to do things slower when your freezing your nuts off

Its the most depressing time of the year, dark going to work, dark coming back,
Cold, wet, damp, can't work on any cars, horrible, horrible.
and slapped in the middle of it, is that over commericialized thing called Christmas.
I hate it with a passion

Re: Anyone else not enjoying this time of year?
My suggestions are the Jolly Sailor and the Fox & Hounds in Bursledon (Jolly Sailor is great for a good, well-kept pint, but the food there isn't so good... the Fox & Hounds serves really nice food though), the Cowherds on The Avenue, Ye Olde Whyte Harte in Hamble (pretty small and crowded much of the time but ask for a pint of Winter Brew and you won't be disappointed!), or if you don't mind driving that far, try the Black Boy in Winchester, which has totally eclectic decoration and character by the bucketload. I'm sure there are others with big open fires, but these are the ones I know and love!

Although what capri forgot to mention is that you have to drive a jag, and have a pipe, tweed cap and slippers to enter such an establishment

Re: Anyone else not enjoying this time of year?
Love wrapping up xmas pressies and choosing the perfect tree! I love it when it's frosty/snowy outside outside too, cause it 's all pretty and then you can come home and snuggle up inside and feel all cosy
I just wish we had our real fire fitted in time at home but it's not looking likely at the moment
Going to/from work in the dark is a bummer, although we're partially solving it by starting and finishing work later at the moment and driving there in the beautiful winter sunrise
Mardy bums you lot

I hate the bitter cold and the rain but if im indoors, wrapped in a quilt with a big mug of hot chocolate (or tea) and a good film or book then im happy as larry! Tbh no matter what the weather outside we're British so we're never gonna be happy
You can't change it so just accept it is the way it is and find something fun to do

Re: Anyone else not enjoying this time of year?
*sigh*
I quite like this time of year, the colder, denser air is very nice.
However, I don't like walking out of the house to find nearly every road in the area is covered in ice, the hill I live on is about a 1 in 3 and it was not fun getting to work this morning; slow and steady drive to work to find not one single solitary road had been gritted - even the main thoroughfares had to be treated with the utmost respect. Bloody typical useless labour council.
