Have had goldfish for a couple of years, they have now all died so we will soon be buying a larger tank with cabinet and going for a tropical setup

I have a few tropical fish - a plec, a sucking loach, various tetras...

The coolest thing I used to have (which probably isn't actually that cool compared to what some people keep!) was a congo frog, but another sucking loach I had decided to kill it :(

I used to have a very large fish tank in my room, kept loads of Neon Tetra, Platys, Zebra Loaches, A few guppys. Managed to breed the Guppys and sold them on, bought more and more fish, it was lovly, until the extension lead powering the lights, Heater and Filter broke, i lost them all. And I always regretted adding the Snails to the tank, they breed quick, and that was all that was left when everything else died :(

Still got the tank with everything in it (except fish + water), want to get it running but noowhere to put it anymore :(

I worked part-time in the fish industry for about 4 years as well as being a fishkeeper myself until a year or so ago.

I like catfish.

I never made the jump to marine actually; it was something I knew I wouldn't have the commitment levels for. I do like the variety of inverts you can get. I have also done the three tanks in the bedroom thing. You learn a LOT about acoustic insulation that way, VERY QUICKLY.

Were I to start keeping fish again I'd probably return to my pattern of keeping oddball catfish with a few rainbows and community cichlids to balance the tank. I have successfully bred Kribensis (P. pulcher) before. It's not a difficult fish to breed tbh but, being one you have to get specific conditions right for, I was very proud.

i got a 4 foot tropical, used to be into fish in a big way but over the years i've swayed away from it a bit and more into birds now (the 2 wing type lol) but i still have my tank.

best thing ever though with my tank few years back before they both got old and died, i had a big clown loach (about 6 inch long) and a slightly smaller ciclid (about 5-5-1/2 inch) that lived happy together in the ciclids hole :oooh: was new to me, and everyone i told didnt belive me  but no $hit, the clown loach was the only thing it would let in its hole, and the ciclid was in a community tank too and never attacked, just warned off.
but i couldnt get rid of him when i let the other tank with all the ciclids in go, i had had him since he was about 3/4 inch big :Q

i am not a fish keeper but on the fishy note, m m8s just had a new pond put in his garden, after seeing it i said it needs fish, so took him to a aquatic shop, baught 2 gold fish for 6.50 each lonked tem in and there were tiny, his ad then baught another 2 for a 10er each... put them in, and then stilll looked empty,

left it a few days an was searching the gumtree website where i stumbled upon a man giving away his pond fish for free, so got on the blower, and me and my m8 went to go have a lookat them,,,,
i know that alot of people in brighton generally are quite rich, ut the guy with the fish must be LOADED!!!!!! his house was mahooooooooosive, swimming pool, a telly the size of my exterior house walls, lol, loaded as they come, anywho,

on to the pond to get the fish out, and they where huge!!! we ended up counting 42 fish of which a good 6-8 of them where preggers
bagged them all and took them back to my m8s house, and plonked them in the pond, its filled nicely know, but was just counting the cost off them, 20 quid each per fish, so thats like nearly 850 quids worth of fish for nothing,,, newt, nando, nish,,,,,,,

bargain of the centurey as fish are concerned,,,,

Fairly short lived bargain if your mate hasn't got the filtration setup to keep them alive... Were they koi? Ghost carp? Or just goldfish and orfe types of things?

i duno m8, basicly the pond has got a filter and pump already fitted and instaled behind the water feathure which is a good 8ft wide, and the pond bit is a good 5 foot high from flat level, goes in 3 foot then a 4 ft high water fall, using yorkshire stone which is good, bit of northerness in the souther gracelands!!!! anywo, his dad has baught 3 koi, and a japanese thing thats basicly, red with twin white fins. and also went and collected another 10 fsh today he also gave us hi pump an filer system, for newt, and all the plants, which were guna have to transport some how, as hes ripping e pond out and his swimming pool, and just pattioing i aroun the edges...

so 52 fish now, at the moment, looks nice with a few fish in their, could easly house another 10 atleast,
