just charging the battery now as it was as flat as a pancake

the 1.6 cvh engine is supposed to have a ''58 ah'' battery according to the ford battery catalog in front of me.
And they only have a shelf life of 4 years.
have u had a battery tested on it since charging it up ?
that would tell you if its holding a charge. It may be new but like with everything. parts perish with age

well i can tell you that ford do not supply batteries with flat terminals no more they are all round connection.

is there a manufacture date on it ?
i looked in the ford/motor-craft catalogue and they do not list flat terminal batteries anymore and advice using battery adaptors.

It must be older than 6 months old. have you got a battery tester ? if not take it to a battery specialist for a free test :)

there say its fcuked mate :( .
when you leave a battery standing so long it will die, its quicker on batterys that are flat, i would guess they will say its shulphered up and shorting the plates meaning it wont take or hold a charge.
there is 1 way out of it and im in no means saying this will work as it more than likly wont.
drain the water frrom the battery (im guessing it has some still and its all topped up etc) and clean the battery out, if you can clean it out between the plates with something, i dunno, hot water, C bang, mr musle i dunno, if you can clean it it may give it a new lease of life, but i think more than likly mate you gotta look at the fact you have been sold a fcuked battery :(

i use exactly the same motorcraft battery in my fez..

Image

i bought it a year and a half ago from the epsom ford parts desk that alex works at. so it may well be from the same batch. but mines been flat for the last yr my cars been off the road, and its still charged up fine and been alright all summer. to be honest even tho mine was old stock when i bought it, it was just a bit dusty. but yours looks like its already had a bit of a tough life? im not saying you've had a fast one pulled on you, but yours dont look as fresh as it should be for something that should have only been on a shelf for a couple of years?

knuckles - 43ah is the battery code that has come up on fords computers for mk3 fez batterys for over a year now. as i enquired with my parts man the other month bout motorcraft batterys and it came up with that one. parhaps the one in your parts booklet is obselete now so they pass these ones off as the right ones now? as you can see in my pic the battery comes up short on the battery tray but i like the wieght saving factor of it

and yep your right they dont do square top ones anymore just round.

"Really don’t know what to say this mite of been damaged in the post by courie people as this was fine when i had it or i can offer you is a new black battery from my work half price as good will"

it did have a small crack in the corner but this cannot cause a whole battery to not work??

what can he say, well something like this could be a start

"yeah im sorry about that, it did work when i had it, although i never tested it so im just guessing it worked, but as a good will i will send you a replacment battery from my work place free of charge as ive had your money first time for a F*CKED battery first time round"

tell him to stick it and get a full refund, or send you a replacment for free, why should you pay "half price" for ANOTHER battery!!!!

I agree with Jay. If that battery was bought officialy with a receipt then under the "goods and services act" you are entitled to a full refund.

no it aint, more so considering the rip off prices he asks for everything!

hes a trader at the end of the day, you only have to look on ebay, so the sale of goods act applies, and if he does not give a full 100% refund for the faulty item he sold you, you can contact trading standards and take him to court.
and i bet you any money the tax man doesnt know about his "selling" on the side so he aint gunna want that now is he.

dont accept it, unfortunatly you have had a rough deal here and why should you have to pay the price for that, na b0llocks, f**k him, get your money back!, £50 may not be anything to you, but he should not get away with it, if you dont want the £50, stick it in the pot for the blind or something, but he shouldnt have it thats for fcuking sure!
