2wd cossie 4 pots update!!

Postby c8rwt on Wed Dec 14, 2005 11:41 pm

as most of you are probably aware i am in the process of fittin some 2wd cossie 4 pot brakes. this idea alone stirred contraversy and the usual "they are too difficult to fit, use the 4wd ones as they only need spacers!"

well i have test fitted them to see what work is needed and have come to the conclusion that i need...wait for it.......spacers!!  same as 4wd, only difference being that i have to tap the holes in the hub as the calipers bolt into the hub and i need some braided hoses with a right angled connection so that i dont rub on the cv joint rubber boot. you can see the gap in the pictures...

test fitted behind the wheel, they look so sweet! :D

and the gap! as you can see i just need some washers and it also high lights how it bolts

any feedback would be great and i will keep you posted on my progress, oh and any ideas on what colour i should paint the calipers?? (its a red car)

Good job. I think the calipers should be red or black :)

so all u need is spacers, tapped hub and hoses? let us know how it goes... i would rather put the 4 pot brakes on my car as u can pick them up for cheaper and easier than the 4x4 ones... how much are u looking at paying for the hose with the correct angle?? what discs did u use on this conversion?? 2wd or 4wd?

adamburzynski -

dunno about hoses yet and as far as i know they are 2wd discs as well as calipers but i will check that, but as i said by the looks of it from when i test fitted them it jus looks like tap hubs, spacers and hoses.

discs and calipers cost me £100 inc postage on ebay

krsi -

i was thinkin red as well :Q

looking at it, i see that the caliper bolts behind the hub rather than infront as standard... does this make a difference?? i wish to do this 4 pot conversion, but am wondering about the discs as people are saying that 2wd discs are the wrong ofset for the fiesta...??

Pretty sure they're the same - looks like a good conversion :)

Will they put more of a strain on the master cylinder than the single pots though?

I reckon we need a proper fat-ass guide on master cylinders and upgrading, but that's because I'm a boring s**t-head :)

Good stuff mate - let us know how they go compared to the shi-ite standard mk3 setup :)
