Re: 1981 MK1 Fiesta Popularplus 170 (Freddy)
Well its been a good while since my last update so I thought I would let you all know how im getting on, things are just mad busy at the moment meaning I cant spend anywhere near as much time as I would like on my cars.
Well here is a bit of progress, we have changed the design of how the arches will fit to the car so these are now being re-tooled, the rear of the car has had one side tubbed and the other one in on the way

Just need to neaten them up with a bit of smoothing then that's one side fully done.
The front arches have had all the rust removed and have been stonechipped. The inner wings have had the holes all plated up and the engine bay prepped and painted, im really happy with the results.

Im frantically now trying to get the arches finished so they can be bolted on in place ready for paint. Things are starting to move along nicely, engine is built but not timed as I have not supplied any pulleys yet as they havnt been machined yet.

I have been designing my own pulleys as well, I have finally finished the machining drawings ready for the cnc shop, here are a few renders of the finished article to show you what they will look like, they will have a few unique features as well such as locking keys and a key adjuster for fine adjustments.

Re: 1981 MK1 Fiesta Popularplus 170 (Freddy)
after the drawing were finished for the pulleys I begun printing some half size models of them to ensure fitment and if they actually work.

I have finished the machining drawings so just in the process of sending them out for tender. But I imagine it will take some time for any real responses so I think I will buy some generic adjustable pulleys just to keep the build going.
Thanks for looking

Looks good. Love rapid prototyping - looking forward to when decent 3D printing becomes affordable!

Looks great! Btw I've got a complete set of US spec grilles for the mk1 if you're interested. I've not got a mk1 anymore so they're surplus.

Re: 1981 MK1 Fiesta Popularplus 170 (Freddy)
well been a while since I last updated with anything decent so got a few pics for anyone following the build.
The end camshaft cap had a hairline crack in it which needed repairing, I didnt want to get another one and have the hastle of machining so had this one sorted instead, tirned out fine

As my mate who runs a cnc shop is simply flat out at the mo he is unable to turn and machine my custom pulleys so I have just cleaned a set of adjustable ones up for the time being. I think they cleaned up pretty well

then went onto the retaining bolts/caps and centre plate

all done

also sorted out the new pedal box

All the running gear bar the brakes is now sorted courtesy of some top spec fully adjustable kustom karl items, I have narrowed the colours i want down for powdercating so once I decide I shall get these bad boys coated in the oven
