165 chip and amal valve

Postby georgiocat on Tue Jan 24, 2012 12:34 pm

Hello people.Recently I bought a 165 chip from a mate in here.I run a T25,and till now I had the amal valve connected, since I prefer a kind of control from the ecu on boost. My question is,if I should leave the amal connected.I mean does the chip has the appropriate tables for the increased boost pressure, and the correct handling of the amal valve. What other people do regarding amal valve and stage one chip?Chip is a blue chip from Superchips, and I am thinking if i should leave the valve connect it,or adjust the actuator rod.Normally if the valve is controlled by the chip as it should,I don't need to adjust the actuator rod,the valve will vent till the boost rises to the limit where the wastegate must be activated.Am I right on this?

I think you still have to adjust your actuator to the correct psi for the chip buddy but don't quote me lol and iv mostly seen them with the Amal valve disconnected but I would like to no know aswell if you can keep it

Well, normally i will have to adjust the actuator if the amal valve is not working.Since from what I know,it is venting the boost, and when the limit is reached from the map sensor readings,it shuts and sends all the boost from the compressor housing to the actuator. If the chip had the correct maps for the amal valve, you won't need to disconnect it.In any other case, you disconnect the amal, and let the actuator do the job.Νο problem playing with the actuator,I just thought that we could start a debate on the subject,if you know what I mean. 8) :Q
