My zetec turbo * gone*

Postby Mikee_RS on Thu Dec 29, 2005 9:55 pm

i bought myself a 1991 fiesta rs turbo almost 3 yrs ago.

standard engine apart from exhaust, air filter and bleed valve

Image

Image

was fookin good fun and i enjoyed driving it and the attention it got. planned to leave it standard bodywise because they are too good to touch.

then 11.30 at nite and over 80 miles away my gearbox decided to sieze up due to the reverse switch ball bearing falling out into the gearbox and completely munching it up. so time to pull it off the road i thought

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

i saw excursion selling his 1.8 zetec turbo engine so i decided to have it as my 1.6 was on 99k and i thought it wud b good to go for zetec power again as i had a si 16v and liked it alot

i needed a new gearbox so i bought a berrnie from CTS

Image

aswell as some focus st170 brakes to bring the car to a nice stop

Image

but the more i stripped the car the more rust i found. and although i work ina bodyshop i didnt want to b welding bits on all over the car

so i cut my losses and bought a minter N reg 1.1 from some old biddy down the road with only 27k on the clock and began to swap everything over

enter excursion with his help on the wiring loom

Image

Image

1.1 engine out

Image

1.8 zetec turbo in (sorry s**t pic)

Image

Image

Image

Image

dustbin lid on

Image

then me being me i was speaking to moondust on msn and he was talking about breaking his car and i dont no why but i wanted his engine so......... i bought it. now i had 2 zetec turbo but i knew deep down i wanted the 2 litre and i was speaking alot to heeman so i asked him if he wanted and he basically snatched my hand off to have it. but fair play to him hes fookin well and its good to see up and running
good on u mate

so i sold it and put in the 2 litre

Image

basically this car has had 2 shells, 2 engines and the gearbox had to b taken out again because it was damaged in transit and i didnt no until i fitted it

fun fun fun

so i had the 2 litre in and i knew i wasnt going to keep the car lookin standard anymore because it wasnt a genuine rs turbo so i thought i wud do some subtle mods because bodykits arent my thing

i have debadged the bonnet sand smoothed over the swage line. delocked and de-wipered the tailgate and smoothed over the rubbing strips in the bumper, like i said not a big change but enough to give it a smoother apperance

I painted the whole car at work apart from the roof and then flatted asnd polished the whole car

then as u do wen you are half way through a build i left the country for 7 months of fun in the sun

but now im back its time to get it sorted

taken from my other post:

ive spent my week off work in the garage and it was fcuking freezing so no doubt ill b ill wen i have to go back to work

basically put on my vibratech engine mounts and the side skirts and arches.

i still need to put on the frst spoiler but i want to give that a lick of paint b4 it goes on.

all thats left to do is sort out a new alarm and a few wiring gremlins but then its good to go (at last  )

i really want some new wheels too but its more important to get it on the road 1st

they are 15inch leauge tantrums with 2 brand new tyres and the other 2 have loads of tread left
all tyres are avon and are 195 45 15s :D
they are for sale for £200

Love it - do you work as a sprayer? Or is this just a first DIY job?! The colour really does standout well. IMO the alloys go really well too 8)

Any tips of filling, smoothin and painting the bumpers - i plan to do the same myself.

m4frd :good job mate, what cage is that?

its a dimma half cage

it was originally in sunny's green machine and then he sold it to sunil who never used it and i had it from him

it runs and drives but had no mot or tax so it wouldnt be the smartest thing to take it onto the road, even thou it was tempting for a blat down my road.

i need to sort out a new alarm and a couple of electical gremlins then ill get it mot, i dont really wanna use it until the worst of the winter is over and spring is appearing

Ollie - This thread is in Member's Gallery, and is a story of the car's evolution. The thread is from December 2005 and isn't the For Sale thread, just a link Mikee put up to remind people just what the car is like. A For Sale thread will be appearing in Cars for Sale when he's thought through it all. A car like this, utterly mint, the stronger, more modern Mk3.5 shell with 270bhp, yet not an RS, is a tricky thing to price so give him a chance :)
