2.0 MAF Sensor
If i changed my 1.6 si MAF sensor to a 2.0 one what would be gained/lost from doing this if anything.
Cheers

put a 2.0 throttle body and maf sensor on my Si and its fast as f**k now. u get crap m.p.g. but its worth it
. My mate done it to his 1.6 mondeo and he said when he got it on the rolling road it had 110 bhp. I believe him.

A word of caution, the eec has a calibration table matched to the MAF. If you changed the MAF without changing the calibration to suit you will get wrong fuelling because the ecu no longer knows the correct amount of air going in and cannot calculate injector pulsewidth correctly.

2.0 throttle and maf sensor
When changing the 1.6 throttle and maf sensor to 2.0 ones nothing happens for the first 7 or 8 miles. in this time the ecu gets used to the new air/fuel rato and resets itself. anyway all this does is makes it run lean and when the lambda sensor detects this it whacks more fuel in.

What Si16_valve says is fine for idle, where the closed loop operation compensates for the misread airflow, but in open loop mode the fuel calculation is not using HEGO feedback. Some of the closed loop info is used in the open loop calculation but it only caters for mild discrepancies and I still would err on the side of caution.
This all said, theres nothing to stop you doing a chip for the car to tell it the new MAF size if you have the calibration data.
I'd like to see 'before and after' wideband ego sensor data if someone has done this conversion and checked it. It would be nice to know how adaptive the eec is.

2ltr MAF sensor
unplug it.
simple as just runs on base map, it wont blow itself to bits, lambda takes care of it
mine runs fine with it unplugged, pulls like a train and seems a little louder on the induction side of things

or you could just change the element for the 1.6 one, but you'll find it hits a flat spot at 4000RPM.
hence why mines unplugged, no flatspots
