Daveroms FRST Restoration/CVH Engine Rebuild Update 21/6/07
Thought i would post some pics up of how far its come in the last two months. The car is being worked on by a ford enthusiast who restores XR2's so its in good hands. All rust has been removed, the car has then been zinc primed and recently primed again. Every outer panel (bonnet, tailgate, doors, sills inc.) on the car are brand new genuine ford items.
I have to go back to the bodyshop today and i'll get some more pics's of the inside and how the passenger footwell was repaired.

When its done i'll tell you the cost but to be fair i don't know myself.
I've spent around 1500 on parts alone but i don't mind. Hopefully it should be ready for ford fair and RS National day. It would be good to get to these shows and meet people off this site.

I was unsure mate at first, but it grew on me. I think it looks ok when its in the car. I originally wanted it black but the guy that did it pursuaded me otherwise. I can always change it if i get fed up with it.

Thanks
The blokes thinking behind the interior was that if i did it black it would look dull. When he first suggested green i babbed my pants cos i was trying to imagine what it would look like, my first thoughts were that it would be poo. He had photo's of an interior he had done for another white fiesta however and its that that convinced me. The side parts of the recaro were white, the middle bit the same green as i have and the piping green too.
Anyway some folk will like it, some hate it. Everyone has their own opinions Once its back in the car i'll take some more pics then.

yeah fair play, with it being white it could pull it off, espescially if u have the green strips round the car.....
only thing that will look completely out of place as it usually does when people go for extreme interior colours is the dash,
cant give you enough credit for what u are doin to the body though
its gonna be one amazing car - get some 17s on it and it will look like mine from the outside

Cheers mate
I agree with you about the dash. I reckon it will cause probs. Originally i was going to keep the green stripe on (another reason i opted for the green leather) and keep the standard bumpers but i changed my mind. I've got a cos front and RS Accessory rear.
Not sure about wheels. They're 16's thats on now, its lowered 50mm and still catches at times.

Please keep us posted with how its gettin on, im really interested to see it all finished i bet it will look just completely perfect!
Instant reaction on the interior was abit erm yuck
but the more i think about it, the more it will def go with a white car and hell it will be different!
Good luck with it all mate

Some old pics of floor
These were taken a couple of weeks ago
Bulkhead repaired
New Passenger floor panel
New Driver floor panel
and boot floor
The car is almost done, aiming for next weekend. The shell has paint on it inside and out but will get pics of this early next week. Underneath it will have new underseal put on too. Both bumpers are on and painted, only the kit needs painting and fitting. After that its getting everything back into the shell which should take a few days max. Hopefully in two weeks time it will be back on the road

Thanks
The paint finish as it is now is superb. There isn't a mark on it and its not been flatted with 1500's and buffed yet.
The bodyshop asked on saturday if they could have a framed photo for their office wall so they must be pleased with what they've done. I reckon its been a change for them to do something like this.
Keeping my fingers crossed it will all be done in 2 weeks.

Thats absolutely brilliant can't fault what your doing there, going to be a stunner when its finished. I like that interior, its such an improvement on the horrid grey RST interiors. What are you going to do about the carpet? Cream or Green?
With regard the dash I'd get it sprayed green to match and the all the bits that would normally be black I'd spray white, and spray or trim your pillar covers to match. Are you going to be doing something with the gastly headlining that adorns every Fiesta as I'm going to. Keeping it Ford with a difference is the way Fordward!

The pillars are covered in white leather, i may use alcantara for the head lining cos i think leather will be too thick. As for the dash the bodyshop sent off a leather sample for a colour match. Its come back as triumph green or something like that so fingers crossed it'll be ok. I'll be using a black ford carpet as well.
I should be able to get some better pics once the car is done. Its just that space is a bit tight where the car is at the moment.
