If I came up alongside an Si at a set of lights I can't deny that I'd try and beat it off the line, but only because it's in a similar league to the zs
. If I pulled up next to a 106 GTi, frst etc then I wouldn't bother
For a Fiesta forum there seems to be a lot of bitching about the zs going on,but I'm not really sure why? Fair enough it's not that fast on paper but it does make reasonable progress on the road. But then there are other factors to think about when buying a car, ie build quality, dealer service, equipment specification, looks etc etc.
Thanx,
lee

exactly why a zetec s is coming my way very soon Lee. It feels more secure than a mk3, handles better than a mk3, and looks a lot more modern than its 14 year older brother.
And yes you are right, if a 106 gti or frst came up besides me in one i wouldnt bother, however its good setting the VTR boys straight

You get a few Z-S posts on here and TBH I quite like them. I drove a 1.25 fiesta and loved that (same as Z-s).
Its only when people say about races etc that they get slated.
Car is back...

The car is a great all rounder. It goes round corners and stops well, and it's still quick enough to lose your license
The book speeds are slightly slower than the vtr,but from what I have read they are really quite close in terms of performance.

The're only slower according to Ford.
As the Fiesta is more desirable than a Saxo, they had to underquote performance figures to ensure reasonable insurance premiums.
Various people have tested them and knocked a second or so off the 0-60 time.

- Your car: ..? Pretty car..!
Car: 2010 Ford Focus RS
Fords stated times seem to be somewhat understated, and to be honest i thank them for doing us a favour to give it a nice low insurance group. May not be the quickest car as standard but dont be fooled by what the stats on paper say!. Some standard ZS'es have been rolling roaded at upto 110bhp!, and if your lucky enough to have one of these, then taking a Si or VTR off the lights is not so difficult. Besides, if you see a Zetec-S by the side of you at the lights wanting a quick little blast, how do you know what they have done under the bonnet!. Mine certainly has no giveaway apart from the exhaust!
.
This is a fiesta forum and yet most people on here alway seem to slate the Zetec-S. I have nothing against other cars, and the Zetec-S is a fine addition to the fiesta range and not to be underestimated.

Zetec-s are far superior to vtr's, i have a feeling ford did the same with the zetec-s as pug did with the 106gti. Ie tested them with a full tank of fuel and 2 people in the car, hence reducing performance and getting lower insurance. Pug state that the gti does 0-60 in 8.7, evo state 7.4. Probably same with the fez

As I said in the last post, now my ZS is modded I would try and race things from the lights I wouldnt dream of. Ie a 106 Gti, I am not saying I have a faster car or anything I just like to compare!
Vtr may be quicker on paper but it certainly isnt as quick in reality

I am pretty sure that all car manfacturers test their performance figures with 2 passengers and a full tank of petrol. dont hold it against me if im wrong but im 90% sure this is the benchmark standard.
I know that Performance Car Magazine of the late eighters and nineties always did this when individually testing a car, i far as iwas aware it was a common standard, and adds up really when you hear of 8 stone peeps smashing the qouted time with their petrol in the red

Citroen test their cars with one person and hardly any fuel. Hence vts 0-60 is quoted as 7.6 or something and 106 gti is 8.7 as Pug test with 2 passengers and full tank of fuel. Same cars, vts ins group 14, gti 13

GTi is more respectable though!
Saxos do my nut!
ie. I tried to compare with a VTS earlier with a performance exhaust and there was not too much in it! He did me but not by much
