Lookin sweet
Seriously don't bother with coilovers on a road car unless you are intending to take to the track frequently

I can understand not wanting G-Max mate as they are s**t. A quality set of springs from Eibach will achieve the result with a lot less outlay.
Your car mate and I wish you well with whatever you choose. Just offering a suggestion

what happens when you get a certain width set of alloys
i HAD to get coilovers, but only paid a fraction of the £1000 RRP
Sometimes its a must (in extreme case's)

Personally if you have to fit coilovers just for wheel clearance chances are you have ruined the cars handling as the rims are quite simply too big. I just don't understand why people screw the Fiesta's chassis up by fitting overly large wheels.
Did you need coilovers to provide clearances on the Mondeo rims?

Oranoco :FezzR :but can you fit brembros behind them?
If it looks like it might fit, make it fit anyway
required rim clearance is rediculase
id be more concerned about the horrible handling at speed, than changing the wheel, but i so love tooras (although they only do 5 spoke in big sizes)
VAG coilovers are very reasonably priced

The issue with clearance is as much to do with width as it is pure wheel diameter... and, I'd have thought at least, that fitting coilovers will actually improve the handling of a car, even if it is running on 16's. A simple set of springs generally wrecks the handling even on small wheel, even if they're Eibach's.
What size wheel have you got on the 'scort Oranoco? They look pretty big on your sig...

17s but in all fairness 16's would have been better and they may well be being replaced with 16" MO's later this Summer. The Escort isn't my daily runner either so it's harshness isn't much of an issue.
If you are on track coilovers are excellent on the road they tend to be too harsh. I know two people who are looking at changing back to struts and springs from coilovers for this reason. Coilovers are the danglies but on a day to day road car are just a bit much.
Anyways this is a post on TJ's new rims (which incidentally look the nutsack). So if we are going to have a coilover versus struts and springs debate maybe it should be continued in another thread so as to not ruin this post

LOL dont think so, but who knows!! I doubt it though, as i had to fit spacers on the front to fit the wheels with standard brakes! (Which was a pain, as i wasn't banking on it happening, so had to pop to local parts place yesterday morning.
I'm happy with the brakes at the mo anyway. But who know's in the future, if i cant go brembo, may have to look at others. AP, Wilwood, Mov.IT.
I want coilovers cos i want it sitting a little like this:
I'm going for the Konigsport FKautomotive coilovers, as all i've read is great reviews of them. Dunno whether to fork out a little more for the Silverline ones or not! But thats not really a problem.
Cheers for the replies guys, I'll get some better piccies, and cleaner car when i can.

Nice wheels, what size are they? 17s?
My BIaTCH has got some on her blue Ka, they look ok. I was thinking of some for me ages ago but didn't think it suited mine. Old car needs a simple design, but on the Seat they look great!

Mainly to Oranoco mate, just commenting on the size being an issue with regards to handling and in relation to fitting coilovers...
Anyway, not intending to detract from the initial post, the wheels look really nice, these chunky 8 spoke design rims seem to be getting very popular at the moment.

acrebo. No offence but you are talking complete nutsack. I have been playing with Fiesta's since you were probably still playing on push bikes chap.
On track and smooth roads coilovers are the best no arguement. For normal roads I have found the best handling has been obtained from new standard dampers (or Koni's set soft) with good quality lowering springs (On the Fiesta). I have the experience of having tried the various kits have you?

acrebo : I'd have thought at least
As I said, I'd have thought. I have not got any experience with coilovers, etc, etc but I would have imagined that they would improve handling beyond that of springs on standard shocks... clearly I am wrong.

Not wrong mate just some what misplaced. If the road were smooth and flat (how we would all like them) they would without doubt be the badgers nadgers. Unfortunately Phoney Tony and his lot don't seem to bother spending money on our roads unless they are putting more poxy speed humps in. No offence was intended so please don't take it that way, just trying to assist others with my experiences.
The wheels on the Seat look excellent and that was what this post was about so let's put the coilovers -V- X Y or Z to bed

Mate, they make the plat5 (or T950's) in 15's upwards!! What size would you be wanting??
They only make them in 5 stud, which is a pain in the ass, meaning new hubs, (granada's were five stud) or 4 to 5 stud adapters.

Why not have coilovers? when your as young as us, who cares about being jogged up and down, its fun.
Personally like the ride in a coilovered car over standard for instance, feels far more solid. Plus if you live in a place where the roads are good, who cares.
wheels look good btw

TJ - wheels look really nice m8 ! bring the car down one day for me to have a look at !
oranoco - i agree m8 coming from someone who does run coilovers on a road going car, even though its not my daily drive anymore everytime i drive the thing its really annoying as the ride is far too harsh round most parts of our roads, id go for koni shocks a m8 of mine has them with 60mil springs on his corsa c and the ride is almost like standard but far better handling !
