Ok, my car has started to run well but now this;

My petrol gauge keeps moving between 3/4 and 1/2!
Havn't notced this b4, any1 know the possible reason?

AND this is after doing 22 miles!!! SLURP.

Granted after a few short 1st gear blasts and a *30mph run but is this acceptable, usually get 50 miles out of a 1/4!

The guage worries me though as it's mechanical, not electrical isn't it?

the tank has a float a bit like a scalextrix hand controller, it wears so you get funny readings. My white 19 has the same prob, goes from full to 1/4 then all over the place.

Anyway the senders in the tank then you have a stabiliser at the gauge. If the stabiliser goes the temp gauge usually goes wonky as well. But since you make no mention of this then its most liekly the sender thats away.

petrol guages in fiestas are sooo fookin GAY! mine always reads full when i first start the car then after about 10 mins of normal driving it will drop down to its true level, VERY annoying.

Is it easy to renew the sender in the tank based on the fact that bezo mentions a special tool? is this needed?

Bezo: chatted to Pete and told me to see some1 with a Ford diagnostics machine, rang Rusty who gave me the address (jus down the road from him)
It's goin in 10:30 Thursday as it is a wiring problem but could be the gauge sender aswell but im polishing all day Saturday for the RS Day

u dont realy need 1, but me m8 has got the proper tool.


MIK3Y wont need 2 drop the tank, [ERRR] there a large hole above the tank (under the seat) were sum1s cut out 2 get at it b4.

I think the tank gauge floater is f**cked as it changes a LOT when driving up and down hills so the sender may be alright.
