Sorted - see bottom post! Thanks anyway all!
Right, so Thursday morning i go to my car, and i see a note on my car, i pick it up and it says "Do not park here, if you park close to my car AGAIN i will move your car"
Which was rather threatening, though stupidly i looked at it, laughed and threw it on the floor.
So this morning i come to park the car up, and this guy tells me "you can't park your car there, im having a vehicle to pick my car up later"
So i ask him "was it you that left the note on my car the other day? And with a smirk he said "yes, now move your car" and "listen mate, move it or i will, dont mess with me" I tried to explain to him that he couldn't tell me where to park, after which he knew he was in the wrong he called up his mate "Whiteball" to explain the situation and see what he could do. (attack me, damage or break into my car etc) So now i'm pissed off as he is an ignorant tw@t who thinks he can bully anyone he wants to. But anyway
Here's the situation, he's parking on his front lawn with a car declared sorn so his missus stupidly told me, and he expects anyone that parks on one of Burton's busiest streets to leave a massive gap so he can get his car on and off an unofficial driveway. All of us on this street have trouble parking, and this guy is going around telling everyone they can't park there. Well at least until he can get his car road worthy which is possibly later this afternoon. Though i guess he will continue to park there!!
So what would you do? As i'm not listening to him and i WILL park wherever i god damn choose to park! He's been on the street for 3ish months, and i've lived in my house my whole life.
Do i have a legal stance if something happens to my car? As it probably will.
I don't know if i should wait to see what happens, speak to the police about threatening behaviour, wait for someone else to have a go at him (not really wanting to wait for that though) or just speak to one or two people and? Though that will cause me a lot more trouble.. He is a typical thug, and the big "Liverpool FC" stickers all over his Astra put me off even more.
Basically i'm in the right, i'm being threatened for wanting to park my car like every other person on this street and i won't stand for it!
Does anyone have any advice?

not sure how the law stands on this one
but if hasn't got a dropped curb i dont think he can stop anyone parking in front of his ' driveway '
oh and not all liverpool fans are thugs

i wasn't saying liverpool fans were thugs, i was saying that the big chavvy stickers on the side of his car put me off even more. It hasn't got a dropped curb, no markings, and he can only park there as 2/3rds of his brick wall has been taken down

I dont think the law comes into it on this one. Depends how much you value your car and how big your balls are. Chances are he will do something to your car and you will have no proof who did it. Will you then retaliate and do something to his car? It will most probably escalate and get out of hand.
To piss him off you could buy a cheap car in a false name with a few months tax left and dump it in front of his house.
If theres no dropped kerb you could try reporting him for driving across the pavement but don't suppose it'll do much.

Agree with this
But yer if he's not got a drop kerb then its not legaly a proper drive, so u can park there.
Dont quote me on that but i would ask some one about it.
If he does touch ya car let us know an i'll travel up an blow his ashtray up

dunno if you can report this kind of thing. where me girlfriend lives some people tried to park in their gardens without dropped curbs and were told not to. they had to pay for a dropped curb which wasn't cheap
is it a private house or council ?

That sounds good
Most people who know me know i'm not a violent person, but at the moment i want to think about the situation.
Basically i don't want a street war, but he's threatened me, and i don't get threatened on my own street. As soon as one or two people find out he will most probbaly get seriously injured should i choose that option, but most probably i won't have a choice like always

if rented, find the person who hes renting it from and let him know the bloke is a tosser
these people wind me up, surely he can see where you live and could ask nicely if you could move yer car when he needed you to

It annoys me in the fact that i'm always polite to people, i'll speak with them correctly holding my anger back and not shout at them even if they have a go at me. But it tends to get me nowhere with people like this.
I don't want to go down to their level, but if the law won't come to my aid, what else can i do? Let by gones be by gones and hope nothing happens to my car?

this one is easy!!!
this happend to me a few years back ive got the local village idiot who lives across from me, its a private road which everybody who live on the street can park, i park outside the back of my house and he has a drive over the road form where i normally park, one morning woke up and there was a riather large dent in the car, so accused him of hitting it when pulling out of his drive. he went mental saying its my fualt and i cant prove anything!!! ha more fool him!! out comes the video camera, this time i catch him with a metal bar cracking a side light and keying me car!!
and caught him red handed on tape!!! thanks RR idiot for the new respray and him out of pocket!!!
catch him on tape and log every encounter you have with him. then if it goes to court youve got a log to back you up!!!

Yeah, the only reason i moved it for these next few hours is that he told me a wagons going to pick it up and if they can't pick it up he will have to pay costs for them having time wasted as well as rebooking a pickup. That's the only reason i moved my car. But if i notice no tax then surely i can report him as his front garden is his property, it shouldn't be there by council standards maybe? If i do i'll tell them he also has the worst illegal italic numberplate ever. Extra 30 quid fine.
Ian - i'll give it a few weeks to settle down first. I'll let you know when to look on the crimestoppers pages of the Burton Mail
I think i'm going to inform the police of his threats, just incase something does happen to my car they have something already on record.
I'm currently looking for a cheap banger to park in front of his house

I'd report his threatening behaviour to the police, they probably won't do (or be able to do) anything, but you will have it on record so if something happens in the future it'll help. Personally, I tend to take the view if someone's only mouthing off ignore them, if things take a nasty turn then I have long memory. Regarding the parking, check with the local authority about what is and isn't allowed, I have a feeling that if there are no dropped kerbs then you are OK to park there.

As has been mentioned you have three possible avenues....SORN issue, landlord (he may not take kindly to him parking his car where he is etc etc), the knackered old car outside (my personal favourite
).
Most important thing is the camera...you don't get anywhere with the police in this day and age without evidence and lots of it.

So my bro gets up, i explain what's happened. He marches over the road, i chase after him. We confront the guy at the door. Turn's out he's using next doors property - someone who pretty much owns the street and one of my late fathers very close friends...
To cut a long story short, i'll never have a problem with the guy again, he will now be moving out in the next few months after finding out my surname and all threats "apparently" never happened.
Where's that own3d picture when you need it?
thanks for all your advice guys, you've been a great help

Ry - until he's been gone for at least a month, it would be wise to keep a careful eye on your car. Maybe consider leaving it somewhere a long way away for now...?
