Tyres

Postby mtbdean on Wed Feb 10, 2010 12:56 pm

Hello All. Can anyone help me?

Im currently running Yokohama S Drives, and they are pretty worn now, and i didnt find them too good in anything other than bone dry conditions. Brilliant in the Dry!

So my tyre size is 195/45/15 and Im looking for recommendations on which tyres to buy. Im looking at spending around £250 for all 4 tyres.

I tend to do a lot of high miliage trips, and shouldnt be too hard of a compound, good in wet and dry, and still be able to hold up on track conditions

Thanks in advance :Q

I had Goodyear Eagle F1's on my Racing Puma. Couldn't fault them. Longer lasting than toyo's and better in the wet. Never used them on the track though

All that wheelspinning and driving like a loon finally caught up with you eh? Drive properly and you'll find those tyres will last a long time.

he has a very good point, also get you tracking checked, its usually out by somehting depending how long ago it was done, can save 1000s of miles on tyres

£250 on tyres???! its a 1.25 fiesta not a road going 2.0l track car... stick some £20 part worns on it

i do and i have no regrets with them, normally good makes too

Hmm, got the tracking done back in December, but I think i have a problem as the car pulls slightly to the right :( But it seams that only my left hand side tyre has gone, right in the center, and the right side has got a chunk missing, as if a stone was stuck in the center.

And Wayne many people i know say that the S drives are s**t handling.

never go wrong with dunlop's :P look at, sp9000, sp2000 and also the sp sport 01
all had great reviews and are still quite cheap compared to other brands

then clearly your tracking iasnt done right, it would drive striaght and true, even when you put your foot down with no hands on the wheel, not that im advising that

and bald in the centre means your tyre is over inflated

a chunk missing would be down to kerbing or similar

Yeah, handle brilliant in the dry  Need something that is good in rain too. Im looking at the Avon ZS or the Uniroyal Rainsport Tyre or just another set of s drives?
