Removing seats
Trying to take the old seats out of my MK3 Fiesta because I have got the new SI interior coming this evening. The 10mm's all round the seats are tight but managable, but getting the back seats out is proving a real pain. Need a star shaped key to do it and they are so forking tight! lol.
Have been un-doing the two on the actual seat as opposed to the one on that bolts the seats to the chassis, which is where I think I am going wrong first off. The one on the chassis is a pain in the neck to get to unless it can somehow be got at and tackled from the underside of the car?
Hmm..........

Re: Removing seats
undo the tirx screws from the back of the seats, your only need to refit the whole hing part if you remove it anyway so dont bother, off the back of seats then bolt them back onto the other seats job done

Re: Removing seats
so no need to take the "brackets" off at all, just actual upholstery itself? (sorry.... I know what I mean but trying to exlain it
)
cheers for the quick reply too jay

Re: Removing seats
He means don't unbolt the bracket-car bolts, just the bracket-seat. Fold them down, it's easier, then when the 2 bolts are off each side just slide it out.
They are tight bolts, easiest when you're using a torx bit rather than key and a ratchet or longer bar

Still seems to slip out. Sure I'm using the right size bit but its a real sh!t. Will have another go tonight but not expecting miracles. The new SI interior will be with me by 8 o clock tonight so I want out with the old and in with the new before it gets too dark lol. Wish me luck...........

Re: Removing seats
they are tight but will come undo easy, well i say that, depends what tools ya using, if your using some micky mouse woolwoths £1.29 load of $hit dont expect much, but if your using a good torx bit in a holder on the rachet then it will be ok to get off

Re: Removing seats
Was using some sh!te out of my step dads tool box
I got so annoyed I just left it last night before I threw that fcker through the side window......
Going to leave it alone until I find the proper tools because the last thing I want to do it complicate things by forcing it and messing the things up, or I'll never bloody get em off!

Re: Removing seats
Sure I used a long torx 30 when I stripped the seats out of mine.
I did end up using a torque wrench for a bit more grab though. Had the same problem as you, started undoing the seat brackets but the heads were getting stripped, undid the ones each side of the seats and underneath, whole lot came out in one go

Re: Removing seats
lol both got swanky tools!! going to have a go in a bit so we'll see what happens, going to unleash a wrench on it
Leverage is definately the key though, a crappy T handled screwdriver and a plairs handles just about got the leverage. Managed to break the bloody thing in the end which was the point where I nearly threw it through the forkin window! We'll seeee (determined not to be beaten
)
Seats should be arriving tonight, between half 8 and half 9, so will try and get some decent pics
