Mods - I need a quick response hence the thread being here, please feel free to move when answered.

Question: Would a Quaife diff which is currently fitted to an IB5 gearbox be a straight fit into a BC gearbox (assuming the one on my 1990 XR2i is a BC)?

why not fit the ib5 box instead?
stronger gearset as they have bigger mainshaft bearings apparently
hence the reason cts putting the ib5 gearset in their uprated bc box's

The box the quaife is in now has knackered bearings.

How much would new bearings for an IB5 cost?

Edit - would the internals from the IB5 fit into my BC box, are the bearings the same

diff would fit your bc box

ib5 internals can be fitted to bc but casing needs machined out to take bigger bearings

better just putting ib5 in as said above

The IB5 needs stripping anyway, the bearings are fecked.

BC and IB5 are mounted differently are they not?

you can swap the mounts from bc onto ib5 , ive got one in my track car , goes straight in no probs

only thing you'll need is the thrust bearing from ib5 as bc one is different and wont fit

its a better box all round and its got built in sprung neutral position and dosent rely on gear-linkage for spring

never looked back since i put mine in with s2 diff

if the bc box is from a 2i as said , then it should have 8 bolt crown wheel

mk3 escort etc had 6 iirc
