I'd rather have white than red, the idiot who nearly killed my brother wrapping his mk5 fiesta round a lamp post had a red one as a first car and I dont intend to replicate anything that moron did. He's got a lovely punto now.... dont like the paint though, thats gotta go

Tailgate looks better de-cluttered. There is nothing wrong with 4 doors, my mate had a 4 door mk4, which looked s**t hot and had a 1.7 frp engine!
But yes, i'd agree with jayrs, red is the way forward...

djnathand :Reckon mine's OK... I got quoted just under £1800 on mine, that's with the, bodykit, lowering, wheels and exhaust declared.Embarrasingly it's only a 1L but needed to keeps costs down... I'm a new driver and written off my Mum's car about a month ago 'cause of some sketchy old folk.

Was that quote after you had written one off? Worried about declaring my insurance with all them mods! First time driver with a 1.3, bodykit, exhaust, alloys, new interior etc.... cant be good.....

Just brought a back bumper for a tenner aswel (black needs spraying white) and a white front bumper for 25 inc fogs etc but that looks like it might benefit from a respray while the backs being done anyway! pick that up this weekend or during the week with a bit of luck. Not too bad £35 all in quite happy.

Wheels arches, skirts, exhaust and colour coded XR2i spoiler next on my shopping list.

Yeah that's with the crash and claim declared, mods declared (lowered, bodykit, alloys and exhaust)... I have no idea if £1800 is good or bad, I know it's bad for somebody of my age (22) but I am a first time driver with a write off that was my fault so my premiuims are bound to be shockingly higher than all my mates lol!

The plans with your car sound good mate, stick at it! I'll get mine sorted oneday lol, hence the sig lol!

Put the back bumper on aswel so took a quick picture, just put it on out of excitement to see what it will look like, needs taking off and painting

Front bumpers on, well chuffed with it!! :aviator: Plastic clipped on the top of the bumper will be colour coded eventually, and the bumper could do with a t-cut all over and paint touching up in places...

well done mate :)

Reminds me of my 1st car which was a red 1.1L which I styled to look like an xr2i. I remember rushing home from picking up the bumpers to try them on, uni coursework due the next day, had no food - just had to see what it would look like - and I was not dissapointed - lol!

Your car is quite the nostalgic trip for me>> keep it up :-)

Cheers Nick and XRoriginal :aviator:

If you look at the passenger side head light its a little bit out of allignment. The drivers side light seems to be straight, but the passenger side one seems to point inwards slightly, hence the gap underneath. The gap is also partly because one of the bolts is held on by rott (theres only 2, the rest have been cut off!!), so at some point I need to sort out the fixings, probably with some filer/fibreglass and restore it back to its natrual beauty!! Quite suprised the colour seems a perfect match!

Theory test tomorrow so wish me luck! Not revised yet but will do tonight non stop. Then hopefully I'll pass that, and Going to give that front bumper a good t-cut and polish when I get in from work

Just a quick one, went to lovely Chatham and passed my theory test today!! Hazard Perception is p!ss but the actual theory test wasnt.....you have to get 43 marks to pass..... so I waited for my results to print nervously and I got spot on 43 marks  so even though I did shave it abit, a pass is a pass and preperation for my week intensive in August is due to start any time now! Need to get my first lesson booked :)

cheers chaps :aviator: well pleased about it, just want to get my bodykit on now and get my lessons booked. Test is on Aug 22 regardless of when I do my lessons, if I dont do any before 18th Aug (I think) I'll have to do about 30hrs of driving in one week which isnt cool!!

All being well I'll insure my car on Monday 25th August and I'll be on the road!! I'm excited about little things like being able to drive round and see everyone at Christmas and I'll be able to see my big brother more, who lives in Minster in Thanet for anyone who knows it, quite a distance from Maidstone!!

Booked my first lesson for this Sunday... haha pooing myself but itll be cool :) New 307 (I think its a 307....or 207....) HDi in Black :aviator:

Been shopping about aswel and got an XR2i spoiler on the way and a set of arches and side skirts so thats all good! Cant wait to get them painted and on.
Gota paint the front and back bumper, skirts and arches, mirrors and rear spoiler all together.... so thatll be fun

Brought some decent light tinting spray and laquer aswel so expecting that to arrive soon, as soon as it does I'll run off giggling like a little school girl to get them done! Tinting the indicator strip to look like the RS accessory ones so thatl be cool! Hopefully by the time I pass my test everything will be done apart from the wheels, lowering and exhaust

Wish me luck Sunday..... have a feeling I'm going to need it :oooh:

Sounds fantastic mate, gonna have loads to get on with when all your parts come!

Good luck with your lessons, don't worry about them lol whats the worst that could happen... :oooh: lol

If its a 207, its the same car i learned in and i thought it was really good, just gotta get used to the size of it because it isnt that small for a small car haha :P

Good luck mate! Have fun.

Had my lesson today and it was fooking brilliant, absolutely loved it. Driving it around having a chat to the instructor about work n that

I think its a 307, was a lovely car to drive. Nice and smooth and the steering was absolutely brilliant, so light and just brilliant. Booked a 2hour lesson for Saturday and I really cant wait to get back in that drivers seat, I really really did enjoy it. 2nd gear this time, he wants to take me on some mammoth drive next time and up to third gear so I'm well excited. Got home and sat for an hour and just kept thinking "ohh I wish I was still driving about :x". The fella is gona phone up and try and book my test for 22 Aug but thats cutting it a bit fine, I'll post my confirmed test date on here anyway.

Tinting the lights tomorrow so I'll hopefully have them finished and on by Tuesday evening so will have to take some pics and get on here! Tempted to just primer everything and send the whole lot to a bodyshop to be done. Will mean I'll have to forget alloys this month though!!

Anyone know of any reasonable body shops in or near Kent, who will do a good job at a half sensible price?

I could do, but thats been done already!

Would quite like to try and find a few things to make it individual. Plan to take the stripes and strips of the bumpers and the side of the car for one thing and just keep it clean. Just brought a high level 24 -LED brakelight aswel because I think that makes a massive different to the look of a car. Thats cost me £5.98 brand new and delivered. Cant wait to get all this sh!t together and crack on with painting and fitting it all.

way round it, clean the light unit up,using some fine scotch bright key the whole light up, clean with thinners, mask off the area you want to tint and go for it, light even coats untill the level of tint is reached, dont go silly as police dont like it.
once thats done and fully dry, use some fine wet and dry to just feather the edges of the tint, some 1200 or even 1500 just lightly rubbed over the masked edge to lose the sharpness of it, then clear coat the whole light unit, this will give it back the shine.

dont do it on a colt or windy day or in very cool shade as the tint and clear coat will bloom and it will look cack

Cheers MENACE.

I basically fcked up the lacquering. It looks cack. I did everything else you said Jay apart from I didnt fancy the sanding bit and I just wanted to get it done  The tint looks really dark too but when the indicator light is on you wouldnt know theyre tinted. Got a couple of thin coats of tint on there and left it, didnt want to go mad on it.

Just disappointed with the finish realy!
